Wow, absolutely no warmth at all when discussing Marion's departure. I would have at least expected a half-hearted, "We're going to miss Shawn's energy."

They mentioned him and thanked him, but I get the feeling they were sick of him by now and happy to see him go.

EDIT: brain-farted and thought this was about Kerr/D'antoni. My bad.

go to ESPN.com and click on Tim Legler's take. Towards the end, he talks about Marion messing up the locker room. Reportedly, Marion was sick of having to always guard the best player regardless of position. He felt he didn't get the respect due to him even though he helped covered the defense weakness of Nash and Amare. I feel for Shawn, he's a GREAT player but his skillset just isn't the type to get props.

I think the Suns themselves are hinting about Marion's attitude by saying how fun Shaq is going to make it.

Oh well, Amare would be a PF now. That's what he wants, right?

Amare made a great point, I heard a similar point before about it somewhere. Amare said roughly that the whole point of fastbreak basketball is to score before the center gets down the court. Ideally ofc it's the other guy's center, but often our guy whether it be skinner, or thomas, or all the earlier renditions, they often were last down the court and behind the action. The key is not everything is a fast break, and sometimes the fastbreak is stalled, and once shaq gets his creaky old butt (sarcasm) to the other end of the court the options available to us are something we've never had before. Included in this is his ability to pass. But we also have the uptempo atheletes and style we have always had. The ability to have both on a roster is rare indeed, and we now have it. Nobody has ever faced a suns team like this. The ability to run our offense like we have, AND have the type of offense shaq brings that no other in the game can possibly bring to the game. A broken down shaq still gives us 3x more than we need from a 5 to give us a legit shot at a championship.

I hate seeing shawn go, and I wanted shawn here, but to get shaq, wow. Way better than Ak-47 lol. Shaq in all his glory has never had a steve nash, and never had an amare , let alone both of them with him. I see Amare trailing shaq for some vicious dunks in our future, and lb (and others like hill, diaw) has some beef for some blocking on the way to the rim.

Gotta love the implications on the lakers, and our rivals, that's just a plus.

Everything said, this might end up being a bad move, but if given our needs, and shaq is there, you have to roll the dice. I'm definitely excited.

edit: One more thing, we bought shaq when his stock was low. Lower than it's ever been, by far.....and..right now everyone is saying his stock should be lower than it is at present, I think there is a strong chance for them to be wrong. If they are, and we bought right, the sky is the limit.

If you ask me this might be the best fit for the suns. He covers our deficiencies well imo, and his passing ability will not detract from the ball flow needed in our uptempo scheme. I'm onboard the wagon

Id rather him say him and shaq and the best pf and c than say something mediocre.

If he believes it and they show it who cares!

well i understand that. but neither are the best at their position.....even if amare moves back to the PF position. amare probably was the best center in the league before howard emerged.....and yao got better.

Dwight is bigger and jumps higher than Amare but why does Amare $hit on more people with dunks?

Off the top of my head, some of Amare's victims: Okafor, Josh smith, Candy man, Foyle, Mutumbo, Yao, Bogut etc, etc

This isn't a debate of who the better player is, I'm just making a point that no one savors dunking on people more than Amare does.

Howard eclipses Amare in dunks.

Shaq is #28, playing time noted.

Yes, I want another Steve Nash type bargain. Can lightning really strike twice? I want to know if D'Antoni was as high on this trade as Kerr. If he is, then I am hopeful.

I don't know about that. they both dunk on people. everytime i watch a magic game it seems like howard dunks on somebody at least 2 times or more. maybe it's just a matter of how much of howard people watch.

I read in one of the threads that Nash and D'A were iffy on it. Understandable, as it's no slam dunk and could be a disaster if Shaq is side-lined.

They are probably around 6th or worse in their respective positions. However, I am excited to see what happens with two front court players who are shooting 58% on the season.

Off the top of my head...
PF: Garnett, Boozer, Dirk, Duncan, Rasheed Wallace?, etc
C: Howard, Yao, Camby, Ilgauskus, Bynum, Kaman, Aldridge?, Haywood?, etc

Please don't start a flamewar on this list, it's just an estimation.

I'm not talking about all dunks, only facials.

I hear you, but with that many dunks, you have to assume Dwight has served up some facials. A quick google search gives some funny results:

* Chris Paul facial on Howard
* Kobe facial on Howard
* Howard facial on Pat Burke

Do the Suns get the Kerr who convinced Hill to come to Phoenix or the Kerr who felt Marks was a rotational type player? This is the question for me.

well i've seen him dunk on shaq, mourning. I've also seen him dunk on TD. I've seen him dunk and amare move out of the way. he dunks on the mavs. he dunks in every game i've watched him. they both dunk a lot. i'm not trying to take away from amare. but howard is the most vertical player in the league IMO.

Howard is going to be a great player and is an excellent dunker. The thing about Howard he is a huge physical specimen that likes to dunk. Amare is a great dunker but he is not the huge physical specimen like Howard although Amare is extremely strong.

i hate it when they say Duncan is a power-forward.
