This is only in France for now. Interesting deal but does this mean HBO is no longer looking to purge all it's original content? This would seemingly be a deal to boost HBO's reach to the massive number of Amazon subscribers. I hope this means Discovery is rethinking their original course. They seem to indicate the purge is over. If not? Not sure this deal helps the HBO original content much. I can't imagine Amazon would make this deal unless there was a commitment from Discovery to continue making new content. Amazon already has access to movies after they hit the theater. They could always use more original content and will be getting the Last of Us now as part of this deal.
This might be to "test" the waters in France first and expand later. If they are committed to producing original content again, and roll this out wider in other countries? This could be a big boost.
