Seems a new sequel is in the works...

Hungry for a hit and with a classic property ready in the works, Universal is bringing the original cast from the smash "American Pie" trilogy back for an awkward fourth coming of age experience. The Wrap relays that Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott and Eugene Levy have already signed on to do a fourth "Pie" movie, with deals in the works for Thomas Ian Nicholas, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Mena Suvari and Jennifer Coolidge to come back aboard, as well.

They are really running out of ideas for movies. The first one was famously funny but after that...meh.

Shouldn't have too much trouble getting the cast back, I am sure they aren't all lined up for movies anytime soon.

Chris Klein has a new tv show, but other than that, you're right, they all probably have open schedules.

The first was obviously great but I think the third one was under-rated. Once they realized they didn't need to get everyone back they actually made a decent story. That said I can't imagine this being all that good.

Got to get Alyson Hannigan. She is probably the most successful of them.

Why? How I Met Your Mother is doing great. She is a main cast member of a successful show and doesn't need the money. If I was her I would steer clear. She is above that franchise now IMO.

Also, I think the only reason they got Jason Biggs signed is because of timing. His new show Mad Love is pretty damn funny. I think it will make it. He probably had no clue if his new show would make it and that movie is a paycheck. No telling if a year from now his show is still on, doing well....if we would ever consider doing another "Pie" movie.

The rest of the case has nothing going for them so you know they will probably sign.

Alyson is the most successful, and least likely to need to do the movie, but, American Reunion would not be the same without her. Not sure how that was confusing.

Sorry, should have been more clear. I agree that the movie would be better off with her and It wouldn't make that much sense not to have her simply because she and Jason's character are married in the movies.

Just saying that I can't see why she would be interested at all and the movie is probably going to be a train wreck with or without her. The studio ran that franchise in the ground. I can't see how going back to the well is going to revitalize the franchise one bit.

mad love has been dropping like a rock every week in the demo... probably won't make it. and even if it did, all these guys who are on TV ultimately aspire to be back in movies and almost always do a movie in the summer when their shows are in hiatus. being on or off a hit show doesn't keep TV guys from working on other stuff.

I agree that is that can be the case but we have also seen the opposite true lately. Look at how many film actors have been transitioning to steady TV gigs. They probably like the steady work.

uh... i really don't believe this to be the case. the only time you see a lot of film actors transition to TV is because they are no longer a-list film actors. i mean... who are you talking about here?

I was not strictly talking about A-list actors but actors in general. A-list actors wouldn't pass on a 10 million one movie deal over a TV grind for sure. However, there are very few A-List actors overall. Most film actors in hollywood dont' get the big check. As a result, I have seen many actors that have only been doing film trying TV. Maybe "transition" wasn't exactly the right word but but Film actors are not shunning TV like in the past. It used to be in Hollywood, you were one or the other.

Holly Hunter, Jeff Goldblum, Sally Fields and Alec Baldwin are just a few. There have been others taking their turn at TV. I have seen many film actors trying their hand at shows on HBO and Showtime for example.

Specifically with Holly Hunter, when she took on Saving Grace, she was still getting a ton of movie offers to both act and direct. IMO there is less of a stigma with film stars doing TV now. Even guest appearances on TV shows from the likes of Matt Damon and Gwenyth Paltrow were very uncommon not that long ago.

Just saying that it's probably not accurate to say all film stars who have done TV "aspire" to get back to film. I think in general any actor just wants to work given the choice. Especially, the way networks now pay their stars on hit TV shows.

all of those are people who have proven unable to lead in the movies and got old... which is why they naturally transition to TV, where they can lead again.

Specifically with Holly Hunter, when she took on Saving Grace, she was still getting a ton of movie offers to both act and direct.

huh? Holly Hunter was definitely not being offered leading roles in movies when she took Saving Grace. Actors with a certain stature want to lead in movies and once it's proven they can't, they go to TV. All of the above people are exact examples of that. They were ALL leading men/ladies and then they got old/not bankable and they went to the next medium that would treat them as stars... tv.

not sure what guest stars have to do with this. the people you listed can do whatever they want in this business.

i think you give those people wayyyyyyy too much credit. they all want to work, but if you think any of them wouldn't kill to be movie stars (especially those who have been) you're fooling yourself.

She had offers on the table according to the interview that I had seen. She was not going to play parts that would normally go to an actress like AJ but she had offers nonetheless. She even had multiple offers to direct. She is still very well respected as she should be as an Oscar winner.

For some of those actors they have accomplished much over their careers. I don't think they have the same motivation that younger actors do. You say I give them too much credit but IMO I think there not all stupid enough to think they all can be A-listers either. Given the opportunity to play supporting parts or lead a TV show....many would take the show. If you factor in ego, one is a LEAD role and the other might not be.

Again, this would not pertain to A-listers....no doubt.

This was quite frankly the best of the genre. It was absolutely fantastic! Was laughing so hard that my stomach was hurting when I left the theatre not more than 15 minutes ago.

Very surprised that they could keep it so fresh and funny especially for a 4th installment. I would put it on par or above the 1st in the franchise. Highly recommend!

Oh and I forgot to add. Idiots who smoke pot in a theatre need their asses kicked!

Surprisingly decent movie. If you liked the others, you'll enjoy it.

Loved the twist at the end with stiffler and "shitbreaks" mom. Was really funny. But agree overall just a really enjoyable comedy
