Hall of Famer
Reading into BA's post-game presser, he immediately shifted the blame of the missed FG attempt to the Refs and how they missed the call "we'll get a BS excuse this week"... By not holding his coach accountable, this in itself is every indication that his buddy Amos will be safe for the foreseeable future.
To fix what ails you, one must go to the root of the problem. Catman missing FGs is a symptom of the disease, and that disease is our ST coach.
It behooves me to think that even a middle school FB coach could adjust to how the Seahawks were timing their jumps during our FG tries:
1. All Amos has to do is tell Brewer to literally lift his head, hand, ANY body part as soon as he hikes the ball. Wagner would surely get called for some type of penalty if the contact is egregious and Brewer is taught to sell the hit. Did you see Watford try to get in hand in to impede Wagner's movement? I can almost guarantee you that was on his own volition and not due to any "in-game" coaching.
2. Let's say scenario #1 above won't work, because the play happens so fast that Brewer won't have time to react. THEN change the snap count so that you throw off the timing or even get the damn opponent to jump off sides.
counter-argument: FG attemps are all about timing so they don't have time to adjust in-game.
Well then, why the eff doesn't Amos get his players to practice different snap counts during the week? What are they actually doing during their practices...?
3. In God's name, what kind of moron thinks it's OK to send out your smallest RB as punt protector during that Punt block. This really boggles my mind more than anything else.
The board seems split on how the season will progress now that we are 3-3-1. We would be 6-1, or 5-2 at worst, had we converted on these dumb ST mistakes.
Where do we go from here, knowing that Amos will be safe for the season? Discuss...
