Just getting to walk out the door to go to our first home game of the year (I know it's only pre-season) and guess what was in my yard?

A beautiful red male Cardinal. I heard him singing from inside the house, at first I thought my neighbor was playing a trick on me as he knows I'm a die hard. But to my amazement it was the real deal.

Hard to believe as I've lived here for 6 years now (Scottsdale) and have never seen a Cardinal in the valley. I've seen several in Southern Arizona but in my own back yard?

To see a cardinal in my own back yard as I'm walking out the door to the first game can only mean great things this season.

Awesome. Omen for sure:koolaid:

Did that little red male Cardinal have a white #81 on his back?

I had a male/female pair show up in my back yard this offseason. They are still around.

I saw the same thing.

The scary thing is that a steer came into the yard and ate the bird.

Yeah, Cardinals usually stick around until October.

:D

Maybe this is the year they are around until February.

Serious note....where do they go from there? And why would they leave in October. sound like they have it backwards?

I just meant the team, I have no idea how the birds behave or where they go or when. I'm no birdologist to use the technical term. ;)
