Spring has sprung, even though the weather still feels like winter.

That means the high school sports is underway, although with some expected rainouts. That also marks the return of our player of the week polls.

Here's the breakdown for the spring.

  • Monday - Baseball
  • Tuesday - Softball
  • Wednesday - Boys Lacrosse
  • Thursday - Girls Lacrosse

Without further ado, let's meet our first batch of candidates:

The candidates​

Henri Barriere, Jr., Archbishop Williams​


Barriere had 5 goals and 2 assists in a 14-1 win over Pope John Paul.

Jake McGuirk, Jr., Norwell​


McGuirk had had 4 goals and 3 assists in a 12-10 win over Sharon.

Oliver Rice, Sr., Norwell​


Rice had 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists) in a 15-1 win over Rockland. He also scored the overtime winner in an 11-10 triumph over Div. 1 Xaverian.

Ben Tondorf, Sr., South Shore Tech​


Tondorf had 6 goals and 3 assists in a 13-5 win over Bristol-Plymouth.

Shane Mulcahy, Sr., Cohasset​


Mulcahy had 3 goals and 3 assists in a 10-9 win over Sharon. He had 6 goals in a 10-3 win over Old Rochester Regional.

Quinn DeCourcey, Sr., Scituate​


DeCourcey had a career-high 6 goals in a 15-8 win over Silver Lake.

Our player of the week stories are meant as a way to highlight local high school athletes in the area. Making the list is an achievement in itself. Congratulations to all our athletes.
