Spring has sprung, even though the weather still feels like winter.
That means the high school sports is underway, although with some expected rainouts. That also marks the return of our player of the week polls.
Here's the breakdown for the spring.
Without further ado, let's meet our first batch of candidates:
Barriere had 5 goals and 2 assists in a 14-1 win over Pope John Paul.
McGuirk had had 4 goals and 3 assists in a 12-10 win over Sharon.
Rice had 7 points (4 goals, 3 assists) in a 15-1 win over Rockland. He also scored the overtime winner in an 11-10 triumph over Div. 1 Xaverian.
Tondorf had 6 goals and 3 assists in a 13-5 win over Bristol-Plymouth.
Mulcahy had 3 goals and 3 assists in a 10-9 win over Sharon. He had 6 goals in a 10-3 win over Old Rochester Regional.
DeCourcey had a career-high 6 goals in a 15-8 win over Silver Lake.
Votes are unlimited. Voting closes on Wednesday, April 16 at noon. Emailed votes will not be counted. Send future nominations to [email protected]. Our player of the week stories are meant as a way to highlight local high school athletes in the area. Making the list is an achievement in itself. Congratulations to all our athletes.
