hasn't boxing had enough to deal with - now tyson is in the news again...

this sport has lost enough credibility over the past several years and it's only getting worse. i used to love watching the fights when i was a kid, sitting in front of the tv cheering for Sugar Ray. i even dial up old boxes match on DirecTV every once in awhile to catch an old Ali fight with Howard making the calls.

now, for the most part it's unwatchable. it's such a dirty sport anymore. i think it's lost entirely too much credibility to be worth anything. i'd like to see it changed back to when i was a kid - back when you could respect the fighter in and out of the ring.

Is it a black eye or just his stoooopid racoon tatoo.

tattoo for tyson - black eye (or nibbled ear) for the rest of boxing.

Yep I remember begging my mom to sign up for Star TV(couldn't get cable at home then) so I could watch the Leonard/Hearns fight. I had about 10 people over, I bet on Hearns, was ahead the whole way until he got nailed and they stopped the fight. That and the first Alexis Arguello/Aaron Pryor fight were 2 of the great ones I recall.

It's been a LONG time since I've seen a major title fight that was any good, I don't even watch anymore.

the last boxing match i saw on tv was the lennox v. klitschko about a year and a half ago.

if i watch a fight now - i watch the classic fights when they are re-broadcasted.

If you really get into the sport there are a lot of great fighters out there, just none in the heavy weight division right now so people just assume that boxing is down. Now the issue of how much corruption exists, well, you never know, but that is anysport nowadays, look at baseball, you have guys doing this... :hulk: And the NBA has players fighting fans :hammer: so I would say the problems that exist in boxing are typical.

:D
