Well, if the Cards want a new kicker they better not wait as I suspect Caleb Sturgis is going to be cut by SD. He missed a FG and 2 XP's.

Dawson sucks, just like Bradford, a waste of money$

$14.1 million against the cap......money well spent.

But why stop there ?

Bradford, Iupati, Pugh, Bucannon, Dawson, Reddick = $33,856,000 million almost a 1/4 of your team salary.

Should send that to Bidwill before his next meeting with Keim.

The fact is that he was beaten out by the young buck that we had in camp. (can't recall his name) Wilks keeping him was a nod to him being a vetaran and more reliable. Reliable when? Given Dawson's track record, there was no reason to continue the charade. That our coach didn't realize that was one of the things that disturbed me.

It was McCrane & maybe we should have kept him. Now Oakland has him. Looks like he his 3/5 with them so he hasn't been perfect.

But he is a rookie, young and will get better. Dawson is over the hill.

Agreed AZ. The leash is much longer when you're a rookie. I remember giving Chandler Catanzaro breaks to that regard. But 20 years in and you can't be depended on for anything other than 35 yarders and PAT's? Time to go!

I think one of the kicks he missed was off the dirt infield, maybe that effected it.

Re: Dawson

in 2017, he ranked 21st in overall FG % with a 80% make rate. NFL avg was 86%, with best being 96%.

His 21st is a bit overrated: it was aided by a high make percentage (8/8) on attempts under 29 yards.

For 30-39 yard FGs -- kind of a bread and butter kind of FG distance, he was 71% vs an nfl average of at that distance of 85%. for 40-49 yards, he as 76% -- still below the NFL avg for that distance. oddly -- 50+ he was at 80% (4/5)

for XPs -- he was 29th in accuracy

so: after a full season+ of experience -- we have a well below avg kicker who is inconsistent on kicks between 30-50 yards long -- and they are paying him $3mm a year.

Special teams has improved immensely with Amos Jones gone. We just have a washed up kicker

Another thing that bugs me about Dawson is he rarely kicks it into or out of the end zone. One of these times someone's is gonna take one to the house.
