Another Carolina Panthers free agent will be trading in his black and blue for some black and red.
According to D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitutional, the Atlanta Falcons are expected to sign former Panthers tight end Feleipe Franks. Franks follows former Panthers safety Jordan Fuller, who also agreed to a new deal with the Falcons earlier on Wednesday.
Franks will now return to Atlanta, where he started his NFL career as a quarterback in 2021.
He'd transition to the tight end position with the Falcons beginning in the summer of 2022.
But it wouldn't be until 2024, in his first and only season with the Panthers, that Franks recorded his first career reception. That catch, a 12-yard gain, came during Carolina's 44-38 win in the regular-season finale against Atlanta.
The 27-year-old played primarily on special teams for the Panthers, where he saw 305 of his 350 snaps.
