The very first thought that popped into my head is that the front office did the right thing. Get what you can out of him for the contract that he's under and move on when the time is right.

Overreacting a little bit?

For all we know, the FO has been planning on extending Q next offseason all along. Wasn't aware that a hamstring pull factored into any decision

We should also consider cutting Kurt Warner if something happens to him :sarcasm:

Who said anything about cutting Boldin? Not re-structuring him to a huge contract when he's breaking down every year isn't that outrageous considering the depth of the WR corps of the Cardinals.

I can appreciate and deal with Boldin getting hurt because he plays so hard but if a receiver is going to keep getting hamstring problems in addition to his high risk style of play then the new contract talks have to be looked at a different way.

Part of getting a monster contract is durability and Anquan has absolutely none of that commodity.

He's broken down this season? As far as I can tell the season is still a couple weeks away. A strained hamstring means he doesn't go in and get clocked going for a ball Warner sails on him. Sit him the next two weeks.

Boldin is tuff as nails but this smacks of ' my work is in and I am not going to risk any injuries". I would say good we need him healthy but we proved last year that he is just a part of the engine not the engine. I have forvigen him for thumbing his nose at the fans because drew rosenpuke advised him poorly but I would say don't forget if the same things start to go on over his contract. He has lost Superman untouchable status in my eyes. Still love what he brings to the field when he is right thou.

But giving a 38 year old QB with a bum hip a huge contract is ok?

Boldin's has hamstring issues basically every season, at least he is getting it out of the way early this time.

75% Anquan is better than 90% of the rest of the receivers in the NFL.

Rest him the rest of preseason.

A 38 year old QB that wasn't under contract and got market value and put up 4,500 yards and 30 TD's with said bad hip.
He's broken down this season?
If the hamstring injury is real it sure looks that way. I really hope it's a ploy to get out of work but that doesn't sound like Boldin to me. WR+hamstring problem of any kind is not what a team wants to hear. Even if it's a twinge or tweak.

So, Boldin's injury is either a) real and the Cardinals have something to at least keep an eye on or b) he's faking it to get out of preseason games.

But let's take pot-shots at Warner for no apparent reason. Boldin missing time in '04, '05, '07 & '08 was just a mirage. Boldin had to miss a playoff game because of a hamstring just last year but let's act like he won't miss any time this year because hamstring issues in camp are a good thing.
