From ESPN:
McDyess interested in Rockets
Antonio McDyess's career has taken some strange turns since he entered the NBA. His playing career started in Denver, then shifted to Phoenix, then returned to Denver, then turned to New York before finally returning to Phoenix for the final legs of last season. But according to his agent, the oft-injured McDyess has one NBA destination he still longs for: Houston. A free agent this summer, McDyess, 29, would like to play for the Rockets. This renews a flirtation the one-time All-Star forward had a few years ago before the Rockets opted to sign Scottie Pippen instead. Agent Andy Miller told the June 6 Houston Chronicle that McDyess, who has played in just 52 games the past two seasons, would love to join the Rockets. "Hiss adopted hometown of Houston, Texas, is very appealing to him," Miller said.

Good riddance. Underachieving stupid headcase loser.

Yep, unless he chooses to stay here for the minimum. In that case its.

Mcdyess was a head case when he was here the first time. He has matured some and it shows in his play and his comments.

However, the suns can not give him a long contract or for much more than the minimum, because it is a sure thing he will break down again, and maybe next year.

He played better center than anyone we had last year though.
I hope that is not the case this coming year.

It's all a question of money. If the Rockets offer him most of their MLE, he's gone. If they only offer him $2 million, I think he stays.

Right now the Suns have four inside guys under contract: Stoudemire, Voskuhl, Lampe, and White. If White goes to the Bobcats, that will leave the Suns with three inside guys. Unless the Suns draft a big man (Biedrins is the only one who might help), they could be entering next season with only three big men.

I have been pushing for the Suns to get a real center for quite a while. I'm not sure there is anyone available who will be that much help. But even if they get someone, it would be just four guys.

I guess they could bring back Harvey, but that really isn't much of a solution. Dice at half speed is still a much much better player than Harvey and was more effective than Voskuhl.

I have a hard time understanding why people would consider giving Camby a four year deal starting at $7 million and not do $1.5 to $2 million on a short term deal with Dice. If Dice could recover like Camby did, he could be a heck of player.

I'm not willing to risk a lot of money, but I would hate to see a healthy Dice playing for the Rockets. :doi:

Dice knows he is gonna take less than he'd like, due to injury history.
I think he is trying to drum up interest, hoping his price goes up
with the competition.
When he was asked about the Nets, he said he would love to play there.
When he was asked about the Knicks, who didn't treat him all that well,
he said he would love to play there.
When asked about Houston.. he would love to play there.
Suns... would love to play there.
Just trying to get the best deal... but I think it shows he doesn't feel
obligated to the Suns at all, which in this day and age, doesn't surprise
me one bit.
Like you said, would hate to see him all healthy in Houston,
but also, would hate to see him injured in Phoenix..
I say, if price goes up too much... goodbye. If we get burned by him
again, I would be SO mad.
Maybe Dice and Phoenix is just bad karma.

If Antonio McDyess impassive physical some team out there will give him at least a three-year deal for most of the mid-level exception. I'll bet he gets a three-year, $15 million deal from somebody out there who is willing to take the risk that he can stay relatively healthy. If he does it's a bargain.

I'm not so sure teams are going to be that free with their MBL's this year. Houston for example will be at $51 million, which is almost at the luxury tax point. Here are some others that probably won't be doing anything:

Pacers - $62.8
Timberwolves - $58.1 (they have Hudson to resign)
Nets - $59.3 (they are focused on resigning K Mart)
Sixers - $61.6
Blazers - $69.4
Kings - $56 (they are focused on resigning Divac)

The Knicks and Mavs are way over the cap but will pay it anyway.

There is a huge number of teams that are at or just below the cap line. Unless they resign one of their players before July 1 or lose someone to the Bobcats, they might actually have less cap space than a team with an MLE and LLE.

Bulls - $41.6
Griz - $45.1 (this will almost certainly drop after the Bobcats take one of their 12 contract players)
Heat - $40.6
Hornets - $40.6
Magic - $44.5

The article about the Rockets interest is similar to the Kings interest - only if they can get him cheap. McDyess's agent is trying to drum up business, but I think it will come back to the same thing. No one is going to pay an MLE for a guy who played OK for 16 games.

If the Rockets could possibly swing a McGrady for Francis and friends deal AND sign McDyess - that team will be tough to beat - hell - if they kept Mobley as well - I'd say that would be the team to beat next season - assuming Dice is healthy - at least it would give me hope that the Lakers could be beaten.

Mobley
McGrady
Jackson
Dice
Yao

That's a pretty solid team and more talent than Van Gundy has ever had at his fingertips.

I can see the Rockets moving Cato or Taylor, but not both. Both are considerably overpaid, so why would the Magic want them?
