Report: Eagles Want
Cardinals End

- The Philadelphia Eagles are bringing in a key Arizona Cardinals free agent for contract talks, but it is not who you think.

Defensive end Antonio Smith, a hot free agent, has been invited by the Eagles for a visit, reports ProFootballTalk.com.

Another average player overrated by the fans. Good in stretches but not much else.

Why don't we extend all of our players right now. 7 year contracts and what not.

It's only an X button away...do it Graves!

What an ***.

Because some of our players are not very good.

Some are.

Guys like Graves are paid to figure out who our keepers are and get them signed.

Graves should have known that Smith is a keeper. Just as he should have known that Dansby is a keeper, and had him signed before he hit FA 2 years ago.

Are you really comparing Smith to Dansby? :lmao:

WOW! Smith is an average player who dissapears far to often. Dont forget the contract year effect either. Even that year wasnt special!

Not to mention the silliest "stongest rigth arm" celebration. His arm isnt even that big!

Anotonio Smith has made some game-changing plays for the Cardinals. It is possible that Campbell will do the same. I expect Smith to be overpaid, he expects it also and would have probably not signed for less with the Cardinals. If all the Cardinals lose to free agency is Smith and JJ, there is an opportunity to come out ahead. Good luck to A. Smith, he overachieved from original expectations.

If I had my ASFN Dollars I would have chipped in to help make him an offer. What happened to my vbookie money, anyways?

RR didn't even imply that...

The "strongest right arm" if I recall correctly was an inside joke (that was given out in an Urban article iirc.) among the members of the DL. It's simple and I like it!

I agree that Smith would have been re-signed. No, he isn't critical but he is decent, and I believe even more important to the chemistry of the Cardinals D than his on field play. Jmnsho.

With all do respect the Cardinals D hasn't had much chemistry if you discount the first two playoff games..

I think people are putting way too much stock into the defensive performence vs ATL and at Carolina..

Vs Philly, if McNabb had more accuracy he would have thrown for roughtly 450 yards on us.. and vs Pitt we did a solid job o bending but not breaking.. but then gave up the horrible drive at the end to lose..

During the regular season the last two yrs this defensive group hasnt been outstanding at all.. they've been below average IMO

So lets not pretend that we're breaking up a defense that was lights out..

He never said biggest, Shane. He said strongest.

:mulli:

True but with his ability to get overpowered and dissapear for games at a time it is obvious that wasnt true either. :)

Plus if you are going to sit there and show off your biceps on TV you would hope that the bicep was pretty darn big and protruding.

Back on course.

If I'm Smith either situation is a win. You're going to get paid.

But if you were him, where would you go?

The rest of the Eagle defense will keep you from getting double teamed a lot and you'll probably get some nice stats.

The Texans need a strongside rusher opposite Williams and Smith can be that guy, but the Texans defense is still a work in progress. They do have a lot of potential though.

The Texans should bring the money, the Eagles the stats.

Smith was rarely if ever double teamed here and his stas were average at best. Shouldnt be any different in Philly. JMHO. HE beter take the money.

Yeah what happened to my bloated vBookie wallet?

On a side note, can we make an effort to get the correct usage of too and to on this board? ;)

He is getting the attention because there is no Peppers, Suggs or anyone else notable on the market.

What is it with you Shane? Did Smith steal your girl or something like that?

Almost every post I've seen you got to give him the business. Nobodys saying he's an all pro but just once give him his due.

You're on there, but I'm betting his statical production goes up because the Eagles bring 5 or better more then they don't.

More general pressure means more guys for the other Oline to block. That means Smith should be able to sneak through and finish a play more often then he did as a Cardinal.

:D

Nope didnt steal my girlfriend. Just not in love with an average player who has 14 sacks in 5 seasons. Which is slightly less than 3 per year. Who turns it on just a tad more in contract year. He will be no huge loss IMHO. You can get that kind of production from Campbell.
