Hey guys,

I am so mad right now. I downloaded Quicktime because one of the game videos I want to download requires Quicktime. Well, I downloaded it and it works but every time I click on a mpeg video, Quicktime automatically shows the video in the "browser". I don't know how to save the video file when it's only in the browser.

Before I download this Quicktime, Window Media (version 10) is always the one that pops up and I prefer that way! How do I change it? Any genius here? Please guide me. Thank you.

Two ways;

Easy way: find an existing mpeg on your hard drive and right click it. Select "open with" the "Choose Program". Click on Windows Media Player and check "Always open files of this type" checkbox and then "OK".

Harder way: In Windows Explorer (not IE), click Tools->Folder Options->File Types. Find mpeg and click Change. Select Windows Media Player and click OK, OK.

In the future, always do Advanced setup during any installation. The setup will usually ask you what file types you want to associate with the program you are installing. This is especially helpful when installing media players such as Real Player, WMP, QT iTunes or WinAmp.

Thanks, I'll give it a try now.

Ok, I gave it a try.

The first method didn't work. :(

I tried the second method. I found the place where I can change MPEG to Window but there are so many of them. I don't know if I am doing the right way. There are so many extensions for MPEG. Am I doing something wrong?

Should I restart computer after I changed it or it takes effect right away?

Ok, I think I just messed something up. I can't even save the target link... shoot.

Edit: Ok, never mind. I am using Firefox now. I can save the target link and I guess this is as good as it gets.

Hmmm. The first one should have worked. You state that "There are so many extensions for MPEG", they might be .mpeg, .mpg, etc. You'd have to change them all.

The changes will be immediate.
