Some of the liveliest discussions on the P & R Board have had to do with the state of the current economy and how best to cope with some of the uncertainties members are dealing with both in their personal finances, but those of the Country as well.

Some people might want to share research and information on the stock market as well (although there should be some kind of disclaimer that reminds everyone that they should do their own due diligence).

I don't know if this separate board would attract spammers, but I think that there might be enough interest in this Forum to make it worthwhile.

Is anyone else interested in something like this?

Thanks,

Jeff

I dont think it warrants a forum. Maybe a subforum in P&R though.

Actually, I was thinking of you when I wrote this because I was interested in your reaction to VMware's big slide today, and I couldn't think of where I'd post it.

Sounds good to me, since that is where most of the discussions take place.

Ironically enough. A friend was taking a business research course that had statistics in it and the last section was regression analysis. She asked for a suggestion for the final paper and I suggested doing an analysis of the connection between VMW's stock, and EMC's,(EMC owns VMW). It's a team thing they did the paper, did the correlation stuff I guess there's a .87 correlation, where 1 means absolute dead on correlation.

They turned in the paper yesterday and I IM'd her today saying did you notice VMW down 30%, EMC down 10%.

If I had money to play with right now I'd be tempted to buy VMW it hasn't been this low in ages. They had very good earnings the market just didn't like their forecast a few quarters out.

Very interesting research.

I am thinking about being a buyer also. I'm going to do some TA and would be happy to post some thoughts that everyone can add to (or throw darts at).

VMW had an 88% growth in revenue in 07. Their earnings yesterday said they expected that to come down to 50% growth in 08, and they fell 34% today. 50% growth and they got hammered!

I don't have the money available at the moment to get involved in either stock. The one scary thing with VMW is the IPO lockup ends I think Feb 11th so it's possible a lot of employees will sell then. Even with the steep drop today their options are going to be 1/10th to 1/20th the stock price so you would assume many will sell?

Subforums are pure silly.

I'm all for a Finances and Economy forum.
