Anyone else feel like the team should tell Holliday to cram it?

We made the guy an offer quite some time ago.

From media reports, it was lucrative.

The guy is doing nothing but hopping from team to team looking to play basically anywhere but here. He's begging mike holmgren to sign him and Seattle's not taking the bait. His agent is trying to drum up interest from Philly with no luck. The guy does not want to play here, period, and if he comes it'll be to take our money and sulk and go on IR every time he gets a bruise because he's unhappy. If he's not convinced that this is a quality organization, cashing Cardinal paychecks isn't going to change that.

I've said all along the guy is average and has a significant injury history, but you can add "bad attitude" to that list now as well. Screw him. Watch him end up signing somewhere for less than the $5 million per year the Packers offered him.

I agree Ed..... let him know the offer ends tomorrow at 6pm.... take it or leave it......No sense letting guys use the cards.... if you stop this kind of non sense, then you won't have guys using the team for their own gain.....

I agree ED give him a time to sign are pull the offer. The last thing we need is someone who does not want to be here.

I couldn't agree more.

Tell him "You've been sitting on this for a week, take the offer now or go to hell".

Not like we're asking the guy to play for the minimum.

A deadline should be set

I think Holliday can help this team and the organization needs to tell him that they need a answer by the end of the week. Don't be ugly about it, but let him know the offer was made early so the team will know where they stand at a vital need and if they would be better served then going after someone else if he really rather not be a Cardinal.

I agree 100% ed. he may be better than what we have - but he is clearly not a superstar. At least colvin made a decision.. My suggestion this morning was to do all of the following:

1. go after jamir miller. if he recovers from injury - his position is comparable to colvin.
2. sign a veteran like a willie whitehead.

you could sign both of the above for less than the cost of signing holliday..and

3. draft the best tackle or end available with the 1st and 2nd round picks.

It is a bitch to have to fill the needs with draft picks...but I would rather do that than pay a bunch of money to a guy who does not want to play here.. he already has a reputation for sitting out for minor injuries..miller may not want to play here either - but we will find out quickly..at least he lives here in the offseason and might have an interest.our other glaring need is wide receiver..we can sign a veteran or two (maybe martay and frank) we have enough young receiver projects and do not need to add any more in the draft..

On second thought - no! We need a decent DE.

Even one who's desperate to avoid coming here? I don't think so. Two words, Simeon Rice. If you don't want to be here we don't want you here.

Nah, you guys have this wrong, IMO. It's the middle of March, it's not training camp. He's the best option to improve the worst spot on our team, DE. Who is going to care in Sept. if he signed last week, this week, or next week? Good thing Graves has more patience than you guys. You're ready to line up with Wakefield again just because the guy is trying to get the best deal possible. This is a business deal, you can't do good business by making impulsive, "Take it or shove it" stances when you have zippo leverage.

What pressure is there for Holliday to sign? He has no competition right now. Okeafor has visited six teams, including ours, and hasn't gotten an offer. After that.......zip. Willie Whitehead hasn't even had a visit. Suggs.....he knows we can't count on him dropping to number six. Brackens has basically one knee. Our starting DE's COMBINED didn't get as many sacks as he did last year. And, our top pass rush prospect, Johnson, had a whopping 1/2 a sack. I'm sure he's really 'scared' we might line up with them again just because it looks to some fans like he's using us.

As for the guy being a cancer and tanking it, come on. We should have a pretty good read on the guy. He's been around for awhile and we have two college teammates on the roster. McGinnis is all about that rah-rah jazz and Graves just let Boston hit the market because of his issues. Holliday was the first free agent we contacted. They have no concerns about his character or work ethic, or they wouldn't be trying so hard to sign him.

Aeneas Williams, in his book, said that fans don't understand the contract side of the business, being just that.......... business. Once it's over, it's over, and people try to do their jobs. It's the fans who get the most upset over it. Holliday's agent is just playing every card he can because he has the luxury to do so. That's a good agent. That's the type of agent you'd probably want if you were a player. Maybe he'll get a team to match our offer. If we lose him like we lost Colvin, at least we made a serious attempt to get as good as we can. We couldn't always say that in the past, necessarily.

Does Aeneas have a book???? If so were do you get it???

About Holliday, I'm not big on the guy and don't think he will provide the pass-rushing we need. I would rather see Brackens here then Holliday

ajcardfan has the correct opinion!!! It's actually so well stated that I don't have anything to add.
