Anyone think/know if Boldin got the $/contract he wanted?

3 years, $25 million........

It an extension, so it's actually, if I recollect, 4 years at 28M with 10 guaranteed.

A bit below his reported asking price, but given that he accepted quickly, he's probably quite content.

Didn't the Cards offer him more than that to sign an extension 2 years ago? Seesh Q

In Urban blog he noted that the team gave Boldins agent permission to talk to the teams that were interested and this was the best deal all the way around. The Ravens willing to step up and put the money out in front may have sealed the deal. Better for Boldin to get a for sure thing? Could a team like the Chiefs offer more, but Boldin did not want to play there? If money was the only thing then no, but if he wanted to go to a quality team then he may have given up a little. Only Boldin knows for sure.

interesting that it seemed to be tacked on to the year, so while he gets the bonus, he still only makes 2.5 mil?

He just didn't want to be here anymore period. Bad blood that has been brewing for 2 years. We offered him that much be he wanted "Larry" money but ends up signing for less with BAL. Go figure.

NOPE! They offered a salary increase of 5 million per season with no guaranteed money. Not even close.

Shane - depends on how you look at it. The extension is 25 million for 3 years, or 8.3 mil a year, plus one year at 2.5. Granted 10 million is guarenteed.

If we offered to increase his contract by 5 million a year, it would have taken his contract to 7 mil and 7.5 mil over 2 years (which I believe also had an extension with it. Had he signed that deal last year when offered, would have paid him 7.25 mil a year, whih is just about what he got with the ravens. It would have been the equivolent of 7 mil guarenteed (the first year of the deal).

No doubt in the world that the Ravens deal is better, but Q's response to the Cardinals deal was to bad mouth us for being cheap in the press... not really negotiate.

I loved having Q, I'll miss Q, but if Q didn't want to be here, at least we got something for him before he walked and had another pre-season of griping and not wearing his uniform.

Can't help but think that Boldin wanted to be the number 1 WR. That plus a winning program. I think that has as much to do with it as the money.

Good Luck Q, thanks for the memories............
