The SNES is a good idea. I have one and my grandkids (ages 4-7) love it.

I STILL play my SNES. NFL Blitz is a classic title on that system.

found an east valley store that does retro stuff. they also have some emulator machines. I prefer the real machine but may look into the emulator machines especially because some of them play NES AND SNES games.

Still, wanted to start him on the NES controller for ease and transition into the SNES controller.

Just put a Nintendo Emulator on a computer, hook up a USB nintendo controller and you're good to go.

Yeah, saw some of those but want him to be able to play in his room or living room, not on my computer.

I found a system that plays NES, SNES and genesis plus has 2 controller ports per type of console for $60. Comes with two wireless controllers but they are RF wireless where you have to point the controller at the console for it to work which basically means they are garbage. If I can find some sweet deals on controllers I may just get that. Seems an original NES goes for about 60 with only one controller, SNES 40 with one controller. If I can get both + controllers for $100 with this one itll be worth it.

Most of the ebay auctions are console only with a stack of games for over a hundred so time to start just looking for controller bundles and whatnot.

My grandma brought over all my old games and $100 bucks on sunday so we went and bought an original NES, a few more games and a duck hunt gun. Me and the kids played mario and duck hunt all night.

only ones I would look at are punch out, contra, ghosts goblins and both ninja turtles. Already have mario, bases loaded and zelda. Not much else on there id play still. Mine still have sleeves too, forgot about those things. Have lots of the books still too.

Fallout games by my house sells everything, contra is like $8. Punch out is $10 I think.

They sold anyway. I never played them any longer, nor did my kids.

so the NES seems to only work for half games even with all the old tricks. Talked to the store today and going to swap it for the Retron console that does NES, SNES and genesis all in one. I thought I wanted the original NES period but now I realize3, I just wanted the games. The original NES is a piece of crap.
