BASEBALL
Hortonville 4, Oshkosh North 1
HORTONVILLE - Kaden Kreski hit a three-run triple in the fifth inning to break a 1-1 score and lead the Polar Bears to the win over the Spartans.
Prior to Kreski’s hit, Rashaud Kastner singled in the game-tying run in the fifth inning for Hortonville.
Braylon Brantner pitched the first six innings to get the win for Hortonville, allowing one run, two walks and three hits. He struck out seven.
All-area boys basketball team: Keegan VanKauwenberg chosen Post-Crescent boys basketball player of the year
Griffen Jens pitched the seventh inning to get the save.
Charlie Clark took the loss for Oshkosh North.
Appleton East 8, Fond du Lac 4
APPLETON - Jackson Bines-Sabrowsky hit a grand slam for the Patriots in the season-opening win over the Cardinals.
Wrightstown 13, Freedom 4
WRIGHTSTOWN - The Tigers used a seven-run fourth inning to erase an early deficit and lead them to the North Eastern Conference win.
Trevor Vande Hey was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI, while Jacob Buenning was 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Vande Hey picked up the win, pitching four innings and allowing three hits, three runs (one earned) and two walks with three strikeouts.
Drew Kortz led the Irish with two RBI.
Chilton 10, Brillion 4
BRILLION - The Tigers built a 7-0 lead through three innings and cruised to the Eastern Wisconsin Conference victory.
Slaytt Nolan and Hudson Ludwig each had two hits for Chilton. Ludwig and Ethan Schneider each drove in two runs. Schneider, Ludwig and Peyton Juckem hit doubles.
Juckem pitched a complete game for the win. He gave up four hits, one earned run and struck out 11.
Brillion was led by Landon Mathes, who had two doubles and drove in two runs.
SOFTBALL
Hortonville 11, Oshkosh North 1
HORTONVILLE - The Polar Bears scored five times in the first, two in the third, three in the fourth and one in the fifth to earn the Fox Valley Association win.
Grace Danoski powered the Hortonville attack, going 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI. Also leading the way were Abbie Sippola with two hits, including two RBI, and Ivy Schroeder and Olivia Peters with two hits apiece.
Peters picked up the win, allowing just one run on two hits with one walk and two strikeouts in four innings of work.
Neenah 6, Oshkosh West 1
NEENAH - The Rockets scored four runs in the first inning and went on to the victory over the Wildcats.
Avarie Tritt led Oshkosh West with two hits.
St. Mary Catholic 3, Shiocton 2
FOX CROSSING - The Zephyrs scored two runs in the fourth inning and one in the fifth in the victory over the Chiefs.
Sammi Weiss was 2-for-3 with a double and scored a run for SMC.
Ella Griesbach and Abby Presteen each had two hits for Shiocton.
Freshman Gabby Guerrero pitched a complete game for her first varsity win. She gave up six hits, no earned runs and struck out seven.
Presteen took the loss for Shiocton. She gave up four hits, no earned runs and struck out eight.
Waupun 4, Winneconne 1
WINNECONNE - Addison Braun pitched seven innings, allowing one hit and one walk, while striking out five as the Warriors downed the Wolves in East Central Conference action.
Claire Schaffer had the only hit for Winneconne with a double.
Helping lead Waupun were Kallie Westphal and Braun, both with two hits. One of Braun’s hits was a double.
The Wolves grabbed a 1-0 lead after three, but the Warriors answered with two runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to earn the victory.
GIRLS SOCCER
Appleton North 4, Marshfield 0
MARSHFIELD - Madi Hacker, Claire Zulewski, Brinley Dunsirn and Emily Apostolou registered goals to lead the Lightning past the Tigers in a nonconference match.
Hacker, Zulewski, Dunsirn and Alexis Schuh added assists.
Appleton North led 2-0 at the half.

Plymouth 4, Appleton East 0
APPLETON - The Panthers split their goals evenly between halves in the win over the Patriots.
Kalli Knowles, Megan Schuenemann, Hannah Downs and Donna Tolman scored for Plymouth, with Avery Fieber, Knowles and Rayna Nothem getting assists.
Paige Kurtz and Addi Reimer split time in goal for Plymouth and did not have to make a save.
Kimberly 2, D.C. Everest 0 (Monday)
SCHOFIELD - Brenna Wilson and Ashlyn Krueger scored goals for the Papermakers in the nonconference win.
Vada Sousek and Ayla Raasch had assists for Kimberly.
Papermakers goalie Bee Brockert made two saves.
De Pere 4, Appleton West 1 (Monday)
APPLETON - Alexa Spaeth scored two goals and had an assist for the Redbirds in the victory over the Terrors.
Adaiah Rezachek and Zoe Fenlon also scored for De Pere, which scored three goals in the second half.
De Pere goalie Jocelyn Blahnik made five saves.
Appleton West scored in the second half.

Hilbert Invitational
BOYS
MANITOWOC LUTHERAN 114, OZAUKEE 82, HILBERT 55, ST. MARY CATHOLIC 43, SHEBOYGAN CHRISTIAN 16
Logan Franczek won three events for Hilbert. He won the 110- and 300-meter hurdles with times of :19.71 and :52.88, respectively. He also won the pole vault at a height of 10-0.
Ethan Auer picked up a first-place finish for St. Mary Catholic in the 400 with a time of :57.79.
GIRLS
ST. MARY CATHOLIC 104, MANITOWOC LUTHERAN 85, OZAUKEE 38, HILBERT 20, SHEBOYGAN CHRISTIAN 18
St. Mary Catholic had multiple first-place finishes.
Kate Nackers won the 100-meter dash with a time of :13.83. Audrey Wanless won the 200- and 400-meter dashes with times of :28.2 and 1:05.09, respectively. Lauren Ripley brought home first in the 800 with a time of 2:27.27.
Ellie Davel won both hurdles events for SMC, winning the 100 and 300 hurdles in :16.32 and :51.07, respectively.
St. Mary Catholic’s Nolie Anderson won the discus with a throw of 122-3, with Madeline Weninger winning the pole vault at a height of 7-9.
Hilbert did not have any first-place finishes.
