Wow, I searched for this and was surprised not to find a thread on it as well. I caught the first season of this and, while it isn't a perfect TV show, or the best one, found I enjoyed it. Duchovny as a hard-boiled detective works well, there are tons of supporting character, and their depiction of Manson is interesting. Also, it drops me into a period of recent history I didn't get to live and don't know enough about. Highly fictionalized, of course, but it's still fun.

Season two started last week, and I just watched on the DVR, which prompted me to look up a thread about it (or, as it turns out, to start one). Anyone else into Aquarius?

I've been watching it since last year. I've been fascinated by the Manson family since first heard about it when I was a young teenager and read helter-skelter one summer when I was maybe 14 or 15 years old. It scared the hell out of me. I mean I couldn't believe at the time he could get people to do these things. Now that I'm much older unfortunately it's a lot less difficult to understand.

Anyhow, like you said it's not perfect or anything, but it's worth watching if you have some time. I like David Duchovny's character. It's about much more than just Charles Manson and his group.

I lived in the L.A. area when the murders happened. I made it through two episodes in the first season. They should have hired an actual hippie as an adviser because they got so much wrong, including how joints looked in the '60's, it wasn't even laughable....it was annoying.

The portrayal of Manson, who wasn't a hippie, was much too benign.

I'm sure they got a ton wrong, and if I had first-hand knowledge of it, I probably wouldn't like it either. I don't, so I enjoy it.

Manson was a murderer and a crazed wacko! That took young kids and ruined their futures. And ruined victims and their families forever.

If you're interested...I can recommend the book 'Manson' by Jeff Guinn. He did a great job of describing the era and the atmosphere in L.A. that allowed Manson to recruit followers.
