Are we a FA destination again?

Winning changes alot of things. There is an article out somewhere that says alot of players don't want to go to NY because of the media and the team stinks.

Is it possible to be a FA draw? I am not sure what we could go after without dumping alot of our depth.

Good grief, even RoLo looked good for 15 mins. Yikes.

Probably too early to tell, but it's the off-court stuff that, to me, would be a real good selling point for any potential free agents. There aren't many teams that are a team off the court as well as on.

Possibly?

I personally don't see the big names coming here. Amare will most likely stay, since we are winning and the Suns franchise has been good to him. We will probably pick up a Frye and Lou again. With that it's up to Sarver's pockets. We don't have much to spend next year, since Nash, J-Rich, and Barbs are locked up. Maybe we could get a Mike Miller or Travis Outlaw type player.

Do we need a young pg? Dragic seems to be developing, but I am not sure he is pg material for a championship team.

With our style of play we could draw interest, but we are very limited in what we can spend compared to other teams (NY, POR, DAL) so that makes us less attractive.

Tinsley was playing very well for Memphis right now, for the minimum I think. For playoff runs, I'd love to add a vet PG off bench in the mold of Tinsley, Dooling, or even Anthony Johnson.

My main target in offseason would be JO'Neil for MLE. Our training staff might be the biggest draw for someone constantly suffering injuries like JO.

Much respect, JC, but I don't get this response. Think about backup PGs in recent championship teams...

Jordan Farmar
Sam Cassell (2008 version)
Beno Udrih/Jacque Vaughn

A few of them are bigger names, but as far as equivalent players--Farmar is a good player, but do you think he's that much better than Dragic right now? Sam Cassell was a vet, but he was well past his prime for the 08 Celtics. And in 2007, I wouldn't want Vaughn or Udrih on this team (granted, Udrih got better in Sacramento).

If Dragic continues to play like this and improve here and there, he's easily good enough to be a backup PG on a championship team. The only question is if he'll be consistent.

Our #1 need is and will always be a rebounding defensive big man. If Robin can become that, then great, but right now, that is still our biggest need--hopefully Robin might fill it.

I am thinking more of him as Nash successor. I am not sure he is that or will be that. He is a more than adequate backup--for any team.

Robin (where did the Lopez parents get the idea of giving their twin boys such androgynous names?) has the body and the physical ability to be this type of player. We will see if he has enough drive to develop the skills.

Can't hurt for him to have to watch Jared Dudley play. Let Lopez catch a little of that and he could be something.

I imagine the doctors said "Congrats Mrs Lopez, youre pregnant with twins!" and realizing they had a lot of stuff to do and buy, they settled on androgynous names that they could immediately have sewn into pillows, used on decorations and such.

I don't think he's a Nash successor either, but then again, look at the current crop of championship contenders, and then look at THEIR backup PGs--and are they worthy successors on a championship team?

Chris Paul and Deron Williams are considered the two best young PGs in today's NBA, but both their teams will struggle to make the playoffs.

We'll eventually need a successor to Nash, but it isn't going to happen through free agency. And since we don't have a draft pick this year, it's hard to even start talking about a Nash successor for another year.

Personally, after everything that's happened with this team in the past 5 years, I'm just happy to have a competent backup, period. :D

I didn't watch the C's more then every now and then, but when I did they didn't use Sam Cassel barely at all, let alone as a backup PG from what I remember.

It was pretty much Eddie House handling the ball when Rondo was on the bench and even then it was mostly bringing the ball up the court and then running a half-court set designed for him to quickly get rid of the ball by passing it and rotating the ball movement around or giving PP the ball to take a man 1v1 off the bat.

My point is some teams need a backup PG while some don't as much, to me it has been obvious the Suns always desperately needed a backup PG because of how the team relies on Nash, the Celtics were able to do well when they didn't have a true backup PG on the floor when I watched them.
