Warren Sapp will potentially become a FA after this year as it is being reported that the Buc's are unlikely to resign him after his contract expires this year........

What is fairly clear to me is that "in the era of FA and the salary cap", it's tough to see too many players over 30-32 stick around. It seems that after your second contract expires, signing up for a third ANYWHERE is hard to do for anything much more than "minimum".

Planned obsolence is the mantra of the car manufacturing industry.......I guess for the NFL as well

Crud, only 5 more years till I'm over the hill. I hope my posting skills don't diminish too much. I guess I'll always have to look over my shoulder for younger guys like Artie.

Speaking as a 36-year-old, I say "Hell no!" At thirty you are just hitting your stride. :)

PS - Don't let "40 Year" see this thread!

At 32 my goalie career appears to be in the tank. Oh well.

As far as Sapp goes, I could see them wanting to sign him, but I'd rather shy away from the kind of cash he's going to want. Bang for the buck I think a guy like Wilkinson or possibly Traylor would be a better fit. Besides next season there's going to be some big FA's out there (Bailey and Arrington are two that I would pursue heavily, maybe Woodson).

of course, a reconstructed knee, five-time broken ankle, slip shoulder, degenerative shoulder (other one), broken cheekbone, broken orbital socket, four-time broken nose, broken vertebrae, cracked ribs, broken finger, and somewhere in the neighborhood of 8 tendons, 3 ligaments, and 100+ stitches will do that to a person. thank goodness it's been spread over the 34 years.

Aren't you a lawyer?
Should have been a librarian and saved yourself some abuse.

Are you kidding? Have you ever seen the actuarial tables for librarians? <shudder>

I'd rather be a daredevil.

I know that they canned the "Conan the Librarian" idea for lack of marketability, but they might have been onto something.

Passing 30 is a piece of cake. It's when you pass 40 that the creaks and cracks start to take over. At 41, I'm strictly a fan, a crazed fan mind you, but I defer the field to the younger.

I just remember hanging up my sparing equipment, as Brighteyes will tell it was a tough day for me.

King, I'm coming 31 on Sept. 6. So, you're a Virgo too, hmm?

Anyway me being 30 now I feel no older than I was 10 years ago. Get this, I still get asked for I.D. when buying beer occasionally.
