Reading several posts from different guys I'm getting a feeling that some of you are willing to endure a year when we take a couple of steps back if it means a brighter future. Not a tank per se but if it's looking like we're in for a long season it would be OK because we'd be in for a high pick. Some are even saying that they believe that it's appearing as though this is what the team is gearing toward. So, if we go 5-11 or 4-12 but we see improvement out of some younger guys during the year, would you be upset or do you think this team has a legit shot at the playoffs? I'm just asking.

Anyone left here, is willing to "endure an off year"

Let's be honest... Save for 4-5 years, every year has been an "off year" :p
To be honest, gearing for an off year would only make sense if Rosen was starting. This is why I don't buy that the team might be maybe not mailing this season in but a wait and see type of year. I believe Wilks and company think they can win hence keeping Dawson and having Bradford start the year.

I'll buy into keeping Dawson over McCrane...IF...(Huge if) We can keep Bradford upright for the whole season...That being said, I wouldn't bet more than $5 if you gave me 10-1 odds of that happening.

Have endured dozens of off years.....and most of them didnt have a legit rookie qb on the roster. It is obvious by how the coaches are babying bradford they have zero confidence he will last the season. The deals keim made the past couple years were geared for us to make a move next season....a higher draft pick to go along with all that cap space could really help us make a leap....... I love to watch this team win...losing suxx ass..... But going 4-12 is bearable if it leads you to a decade of 12-4......

I think this team is much more competitive than people are giving it credit for. I think we legitimately compete for a playoff spot (but not much more than that).

I am fully prepared for what's going to be a bit of a down year all in all though. I'm excited about the direction of the team with Rosen on deck to develop. Considering that this team hasn't always been that great, how could I really feel bad about it being a disappointment of a year?

My heart won't be broken as long as we show progress and Wilks appears to be competent. There were years with bad coaching and bad play, where there wasn't even a modicum of hope.

If a team has Fitzgerald, Peterson, Chandler Jones and David Johnson and are thinking about tanking, they should fire everyone in front office and coaching ranks tonight.

Well.... The coach hasn't had a chance yet, so I'll give him a year or two before I pass judgement... But ownership/management hasn't put an adequate O-line together for over 2 decades, and no QB on the roster has Warner's ability to make a quick read/release and self-preserver.

I don't think anyone is thinking about tanking, but realistically... We'll suck this year.

I'll gobble down all the crow thrown at me if I'm wrong...happily.

I dont see them " thinking about tanking" but being aware that they have lots of holes that cannot be filled right now with top rate talent. Thats reality...if we get ten wins it will be an amazing job coaching...

I’ll bet a hefty paycheck that Mikey B isn’t thinking down year after all of the resources he’s poured into this team. The roster is more reflective of a new coaching staff putting their stamp than saving up for the future. I like where we are as a team. My main concern early on is scoring points in the red zone. That I believe will be tough sledding.

Yeah...we probably gonna have to just go ahead and score from 25 yards out

What's an off year?

I think if your looking at this team and seeing a contender your fooling yourself.

Honestly I see 8-8 in our future.

If we can't get our first round picks right (except Rosen) than it won't matter. I have to think our previous first rounders do absolutely nothing is going to hurt our development... I guess if we pick in the top five maybe Keim won't be able to pick such risky guys?

There is only one reason to tank a season period and that’s to draft a QBOTF. We already have one in Rosen so we go balls to the wall to win every game and get that Super Bowl. Besides this team has way to much talent. If D.J. and Bradford stay healthy we could make the playoffs.

I don’t like losing, but if it’s obvious that team won’t be good(which I think it is), then I’m all in for a high prospect liken Nick Bosa & Ed Oliver.

If it also means getting rid of McCoy then I definitely won’t complain in the slightest, either.

People were saying the same thing when the Cardinals transitioned to BA and Keim a few years ago. They won ten games and just missed the playoffs that first year.

Michael Bidwill will expect a competitive team this year. Playoffs may be a long shot but this team as a whole had better give it 100% every game.

The key will be can they stay healthy. Because this team is in a transition year there isn’t much depth at several positions. The depth issues is what will most likely prevent this team from a shot at the playoffs.

We are in transition. Let’s face it. New coach. New system. Eleven starters from last year are gone. Add the fact that we are/ were limited in cap space and here we are for the 2018 season. Could Khalil Mack help this team? Of course. But we didn’t have the cap space to do something like this nor is this roster in a position to do it. We will see Rosen around game 12 when we are mathematically eliminated unlessbradford gets hurt or REALLY stinks. The problem with living with a down year is that it doesn’t guarantee anything for next year. I believe we will not be a serious contender until 2020.

I think there is about a 20% chance for the painless transition: Bradford plays well/ is healthy and the combo of good D, good ST and a run oriented offense wins you 10 games.

I think the likely scenario is competitive, but the offense is anemic and after a 3-6 start, Rosen steps in. the team finishes 5-11 as Rosen gets his rookie INT fest out of his system. Oddly, the outlook going forward nationally for that team will be much more optimistic than this team coming off 8-8

Our offensive line had looked great in preseason, I think we could have a really good year.

Or, we get injured to hell and don't.

Either way, every team is 0-0 and every team is full of nfl talent. Anything can happen.
