Arena name change?

Has anyone heard anything regarding a name change for America West Arena? The America West/USAir merger is supposed to be complete in October. With the America West Airlines name going away, I would assume the arena would be renamed to USAir Arena, if not this year next year. It's going to take some getting used to having both the BOB and AWA changing names.

I always thought America West Arena was ok for a corporate name because Phoenix is in America, and in the West. America West Airlines Arena wouldve sounded horrible, but AWA was nice. Im going to be really annoyed when I have to start going to games at "US Air Arena" and "Chase Bank Ballbark"

When the merger happened, the AZ Republic said the name *would* change eventually. It's going to suck, but whatever - it's par for the course nowadays...

I am just going to call them by their original names. Just like how I still call that mountain Squaw Peak.

Everything is far too corporate. Why dont they just call it the USAmAIRica West Arena? Or the ChaseOne Ballpark? I would rather name the sites after the respective teams that play there. The only problem is some sites are multi-sport ie Suns/Rattlers, Coyotes/Sting.

Some ideas:
Phoenix Suns Plaza
Suns Square
Diamondback Park
Dback Diamond
Snake Pit

I actually never really liked the name "Bank One Ballpark" as it sounded too corporate. But I always called it "The BOB" to avoid this. If they change the name to "Chase Ballpark" or "Chase Field" or something like that, I think it will actually be an improvement. But "Chase Bank Field" would be horrid.

Somebody should tell these corporations that nobody actually uses a product because an arena is named after it.

Although my personal favorite was when the Memphis Grizzlies were considering a move to Louisville Kentucky. There was apparently discussion that they would become the Kentucky Colonels and would play in...get this...the KFC Bucket. That just slayed me. I'd start buying their chicken if that happened.

I'm one who's not too keen on a potential name change. I've grown really used to calling the arena AMERICA WEST ARENA and anything else will just seem bizarre.

Eh, whatever it's called is irrelevent. As long as the team name remains PHOENIX, I'm happy as hell.
