After reading of Chad Ford's comments about Arenas (thanks sunfn one more time!) I'm not that surprised.
I do think that LAC will let Maggette go and they will keep Odom and Brand.
If they could get Arenas then they would become a play-off contender team again moreover they would be the best young team in NBA and they still remained cheap.

The article says they'll match Brand AND Maggette. I can't see them signing Arenas, and then matching whatever offer Odom gets. And he WILL get an offer somewhere. In fact, I still don't expect much more than Brand and Odom out of that group in Clipper uniforms next year. Arenas would like to play in LA, but will he knowing that he won't have much of a team? He can stay in Golden St, take less money this year, then get paid big time next year from a team that is heading up. Or he can come to the Clippers and have no chance of winning anything.

I think that with the lineup Arenas/Richardson/Odom/Brand/Kaman and with the bench Jaric/Wilcox/Ely the Clippers is a borderline play-off team talentwise again.
They got an experienced coach, their future core players got paid, the new era can start.

But is that team any better than Arenas' GSW team? Not really.

Heck, is that team better than last year's Clipper team?

I thought their new era started about 5 years ago?

Heck, it is,IMO.

Tell me how. Losing Maggette, Pike and Andre Miller vs. gaining Chris Kaman and Gilbert Arenas?? Are you smoking something?

I like Gilbert, but he has Ike Austin and Marc Jackson written all over him.

Personally I like Gilbert a lot better than Miller, Maggete, Olowokandi or Piatkowski.

If the Clippers end up with Brand, Odom, Arenas I definately think they will be better next season. Also with Dunleavy as their coach.

Yes, I'm.But please handle this confidentially!

I think that Arenas is better than Miller.Kaman will contribute more than Piatkowski did.
The inreasing minutes and possible improvements of Richardson and Jaric can replace Maggette's performance.
Odom "hopefully" won't miss +30 games.Brand probably won't miss 20 games.
They have two, talented young frontcourt players whose improvement is expectable.
Probably they will play better as a team because of their new coach and because the players who played for their individual stats and for their new contracts now could focus on success of their team.

I know that's not a surprise for you since you know how terrible is my english command but I don't have any idea what you meant with that.

I figure the Clippers will not match Magette AND sign Arenas. I think they will match anything reasonable for Odom, and matching brand's offer is as good as done.

I think we need to remember that last summer everybody, including myself, thought the Clippers were a lock for the playoffs. Andre Miller was supposedly the missing piece.

Both Austin and Jackson had really great single years, in which their value skyrocketed, but they've stunk it up ever since. Now, I don't think Gilbert will be the next Ike Austin, but I'm still not convinced he will continue to be a swiftly rising star in this league.

ESPECIALLY if he goes to the Clippers.

Yes, but both Jackson and Austin had good seasons in poor teams while Arenas had a break-out year in a decent team.

Jackson really only had a couple of months of good basketball. People were excited about him because of his size. I don't remember how long Austin's good basketball lasted, but I do know that he did not play on a poor team. He replaced an injured Alonzo Mourning on a good Miami Heat basketball team.

That's correct.
I overlooked the fact that Austin got traded to LAC from MIA in his best season 97/98.
