Done deal, the public stall makes no sense!
I don't think they'll necessarily lower his salary but will try to structure it differently and create a lower cap hit. In fact, that may be the reason for the delay in the announcements and they are putting the final touches on a deal.My hunch has been that upon Carson Palmer's exit interview the Cardinals expressed that they would like him back, but at a reduced salary so that they can free up added cap space to sign key free agents. Palmer seemed gun-ho about coming back prior to his exit interview. Thus, perhaps feeling slighted by the Cardinals' off-season game plan, he has been mulling over whether he wants to accept a return at a lower salary.

Yeah, I don't understand that either.
Maybe they just don't want to overshadow the Superbowl...because Palmer's announcement is bound to be more exciting than tomorrow's snoozefest...lolIt could just be cheap publicity for the team.

I can tell you with 100% confidence that none of it went down the way you presume.

Now there's a exit interview designed to convince a guy to return.
Hint: first you get him to commit and then you can have a creative accounting conversation as I doubt he's taking a penny less in the end.
