Where will the Cats end up?

Pac-10 Bowls
• Champion: Rose Bowl (Jan. 1 in Pasadena, Calif.)
• Second place: Holiday Bowl (Dec. 30 in San Diego)
• Third place: Sun Bowl (Dec. 31 in El Paso)
• Fourth place: Las Vegas Bowl (Dec. 20 in Las Vegas)
• Fifth place: Emerald Bowl (Dec.27 in San Francisco)
• Sixth place: Hawaii Bowl (Dec. 24 in Honolulu)
• Seventh place: Poinsettia Bowl (Dec. 23 in San Diego)
NOTE: The Pac-10 Conference champion could be invited to another Bowl Championship Series game depending on where it finishes in the national rankings.

Planning on going anywhere except El Paso and Hawaii. I think they'll end up in Vegas, rooting for San Diego or San Francisco.

Thanks, it's been a long ten years. Mackovic really destroyed this program and it only took him less than three years to do it. Stoops is turning things around and I would expect a very good recruiting class for next year.

By the way, is Illinois going to get into a bowl game this year? I can't believe they lost to Western Michigan yesterday.

I was thinking about it last night. Since the last time Arizona went to a bowl game I've picked to go to school down there, graduated HS, graduated college, and been a working part of the real world now for several years. Been a long, long time.

My work schedule can only allow me to go to the Rose Bowl or Emerald Bowl. Since we have a snow ball's chance in hell of getting the Rose Bowl, I'm dreaming emeralds!

Lot of ugly turnovers.

Illinois is 5-5, games left against OSU (home) and at Northwestern. I actually feel better about the OSU game than the NW game.

I think right now, anything less than the Holiday or Sun Bowls would be a disappointment.

Sure, it's nice to be eligible for a bowl game, but this team is good enough to strive for one of the top bowls.

Other than the top bowl, Arizona controls it's own destiny. The two teams right above Arizona in the standings, the Oregon schools, happen to be the next two opponent for the Cats.

Agreed, especially in this down year in the conference.

And while I was skeptical at the time, the Sonny Dykes hire is proving to be a major coup. What Arizona is doing offensively is mind-boggling considering how poor the unit was under Canales in 2006.

My excitement lies in the fact that next year should be another year to add onto the excitement for these reasons

Another year for Grigsby, Antolin, Gronk and that Oline
Another year in Dykes offense
Another year of growth for what should be a good defense
A good recruiting class coming in
USC likely to be with out Sanchez and breaking in Mitch Mustain (jezus doesn't he just sound like an USC QB?)

So my question is this - I have yet to see the young QB Scott play...Should I be expecting big things out of him? Mao I am looking to you on this one....

Scott is not guaranteed a starting job. Michigan State transfer Nick Foles will give plenty of competition. He is big, accurate and has a gun for an arm. He ran the spread offense in high school and signed with ASU out of high school. He went to MSU when Koetter was fired. Nick was also recruited by Leach. Dykes has been very happy with Nick running the scout team and it should be a great battle in spring ball for the qb job.

Nice - I had no idea.

Thanks Lefty...I am so disconnected out here in Florida from my alma mater:(

And hope Leach stays at TT

Yeah, I'd assume Dykes would be the heavy front-runner were Leach to go to Tennesee. That would be the only program with a job opening that has enough clout to get him out of Lubbock in my opinion although SEC folk and Leach's quirkiness may not be the best match. Perhaps Washington now that I think about it as Leach is a West Coast guy and wanted the UCLA job. Leach would do very well in Seattle and would knock UA down a notch as Dykes is just as responsible for Arizona's success as Stoops.

As far as the Scott-Foles question, my nest guess is that Scott gets the job. He's a better fit for Arizona's offensive talent next year when we'll probably be a more run and intermediate pass oriented team.

I don't think Leach would be a good fit for Tennessee, but I imagine they will make a big push for him.

Leach in Seattle could be scary, although with the weather up there, would that cause problems with his offense?

Gary Pinkel was the OC in Seattle under Don James and he has no reservations about throwing the ball. Leach would be a monster hire for UW and put them back where they belong as the second best program in the West. I'm not too big on Pinkel who is also supposedly on Washington's short list, I think he's a mediocre coach whose success is largely based on getting one great player in Chase Daniel and Colorado/Nebraska being in down years.
