The Arizona Cardinals have not finished doing work in free agency. They have reportedly added more help to the defense. According to Aaron Wilson, the Cardinals have added former Chicago Bears cornerback Jaylon Jones.

It was not reported how long the contract is that they agreed to, but at this point, it is likely a one-year, near-minimum deal with not much guaranteed. He was a restricted free agent who went untendered by the Bears.

Jones is an Allen, Texas native and was high school teammates with Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. He played collegiately at Mississippi and went undrafted. He spent the last three seasons with Chicago, where he appeared in 41 games, starting five. He played mostly on special teams.

He has 85 total career tackles, four pass breakups and a forced fumble.

Last season, he appeared in only eight games, landing on injured reserve in November. He logged 140 special teams snaps and 76 on defense.

He has seen his defensive playing time decrease every year. As a rookie, he started four games and played 464 defensive snaps to go with 153 on special teams. In 2023, he saw his defensive playing time drop to 148 and his special teams work increase to a career-high 335 before his play last season.

He is 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds. He has played almost exclusively on the boundary in his career.

He will likely compete for a spot on the back of the roster with guys like Kei'Trel Clark, Darren Hall and Elijah Jones.
