Tempe, Arizona – The Arizona Cardinals and Bonneville International Corporation today announced that beginning with the upcoming 2005 season, Cardinals fans will be able to hear the team’s radio programming on Bonneville stations ESPN Radio 860 and Newsradio 620 KTAR.
The announcement of the multi-year deal was made this morning on KTAR’s Arizona Morning News as head coach Dennis Green joined program hosts Ned Foster and Connie Weber.
All Cardinals pre-game and game broadcasts will be carried on ESPN Radio 860. The Cardinals’ game broadcasts also can be heard on Newsradio 620 KTAR, except on those occasions when they conflict with Arizona Diamondbacks games.
ESPN Radio 860 also will air the post-game show following every contest as well as non-game-day programming that includes the Dennis Green Show and the Big Red Rage.
In addition to broadcasting the Cardinals games, ESPN Radio 860 also is the radio home of Arizona State University athletics, as well as the WNBA Phoenix Mercury and the AFL Arizona Rattlers. Newsradio 620 KTAR broadcasts games for the Arizona Diamondbacks and Phoenix Suns.
“We are extremely excited,” said Bonneville International Vice President and Phoenix Market Manager Erik Hellum, “to expand our sports presence in the Phoenix area with this partnership. We’re happy to have the three major professional sports franchises on our stations.”
The multi-year agreement also is enthusiastically welcomed by the Arizona Cardinals organization.
“We are thrilled," said Ron Minegar, Cardinals Vice President of Marketing and Sales, “to join forces with Bonneville International as we enter a dynamic and exciting chapter in our team's history. This relationship provides us an opportunity to build a substantial broadcast and marketing platform with a partner that shares our enthusiastic outlook and approach.”
“With a proven head coach in Dennis Green,” added Hellum, “a new stadium being constructed, new-look uniforms, and a very exciting atmosphere surrounding the Cardinals, we’re proud to partner with them and be a part of moving in this new direction. We also are very pleased that the sports broadcasting leader in Phoenix now has a major sports franchise on the air.”
ESPN Radio 860 and Newsradio 620 KTAR are owned and operated by Bonneville International, a dynamic, award-winning media company with radio, television, satellite, and advertising properties also in Chicago, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., St. Louis, Salt Lake City, eastern Idaho, and southern Utah. The company has a long-standing reputation and is known industry-wide for its values-oriented approach to business and programming, and for its nationally recognized commitment to serving the communities where it broadcasts.
