Probably a good thing - maybe it will teach a little humility

Do you know him personally? Just because he is quiet and has his own style doesn't mean he's a jerk.

Anyway, probably a good move. His control was all over the place. I'm not sure how much he'll improve back down at AAA since he was already dominating the minors.

I think this move was made simply because the Dbacks aren't at a point where they can just let him work out his control issues. Maybe once / if they're completely out of it. But right now they're still hanging on by a thread and can't afford to give away games.

Nick Piecoro is on Bickley's show right now, implying that he wasn't a popular person in the clubhouse.

.

No, but he insists he knows what is best, better than the coaches. That shows arrogance.

Agree. Just go read his twitter feed. After his first start, he was going after fans who were questioning his abilities.

Gambo was talking about this today as well... and went further actually by claiming Bauer and Miggy were having relationship issues. Apparently, Bauer didn't want to trust the pitches Miggy was calling for. Who knows how much all of this is true. What is very clear is that Bauer remained commited to "his" ways... from his odd-ball pre-game routines, to the way he starts every inning by flame-throwing a ball to the catcher.
The demonstrated zero control throughout his short stint in the bigs. Opposing batters were able to work him and get him to throw his very mediocre fast ball - which, they would then pound.
Bauer is a perfect example that highlights just how big of a leap it is between AAA and the Bigs. Which makes guys like Goldy that much more impressive as he skipped Reno entirely.

Bauer desperately needs a very solid, close mentor who can speak truth to the kid. He can clearly move a baseball with the best of them... however, if you can't throw strikes, you will get pounded and you will lose - ALOT!

No question that it was Trevor's attitude that did him in. The public knows how much of this was true. From articles such as this right from the start.

If a rookie is going to tell experienced pro's how to play Major League baseball, he'd better back it up with his performance. Bauer did not! How could he?

We knew he was stubborn and disrespectful before we brought him up. I don't fault the D'backs for trying. We had to find out and we did. Now it's time to move on.

Will Bauer be one of baseball's few head cases who overcomes his social problems and makes it back successfully? Only time will tell.

I heard Bauer say something like "I will pitch to my strengths, not the batter's weaknesses" (or something close to that. I think Montero was frustrated by the rookie not listening to him. Some of his pitches were almost circus like. I think he needs to work on his game and trust the catcher next time around.

Sounds like he needs his own version of Crash Davis!

This is the problem with kids getting pro coaching at an early age. They get to this point and they think they've got the game figured out. This is not going to be resolved with a trip to AAA.

Hey, do I get to say, "I told you so" again? ;)
