"A little past the midway point in one of the most disappointing seasons in franchise history, the Diamondbacks appear to be weighing a managerial change.

Rumors surfaced late Thursday night that the Diamondbacks were expected to fire manager Chip Hale and replace him with Triple-A Reno manager Phil Nevin. Club sources would not confirm that, but there were indications the team was considering making a change"

Not saying that Hale isn't culpable for any of the team's struggles, but managing the game is not the chief issue for this franchise. Lopsided deals and no talent in the farm system are more disconcerting.

True, we all thought things would get much better after Towers but...

Stupid... Why float a rumor like this, right when the team just started a 10 game road trip.... Just stupid...
Kurkjin was on Burns and Gambo today and said Hale isn't to blame... Injuries and horrific pitching is what he pointed to...

The manager will always get the blame. Agreed, it is stupid at this time. Do it during All Star break or before a series with the terrible Reds, so the new manager will look smart. I have no idea what is going on but if we lose this series to the lowly Reds, well, this may be it for Chip. I think it is the wrong decision, but it has happened many times before and may happen again. One thing I can guarantee you, no one in the DBack's front office gives a care about what Kurkjian thinks. The manager always takes the fall.

Hale will be the first to go but eventually TLR & Stewart will have to answer for their mistakes and end up on the chopping block.

I hope the day after the season is over everyone is gone and we start over because this team will get worse under this management.

Why don't they just hold off on firing anybody til the season is over, then fire everybody that needs to go at once?

Hasn't Nevin been described as a "Hale clone"?
At this point I have no faith that anybody in this organization can make an intelligent move.

The only thing that will change my mind is consistant wins. I'm not falling for any more big free agent signings, front office musical chairs, $25 hot dogs or any other hocus pocus this team can muster ever again.

Can you name all the things Hale has done wrong?
Sure,

He signed Greinke.
He let Pollack and several other players all get injured.
He made the worst trade in the history of baseball to get Miller.
He gave away Ziggy for NOTHING

Oh wait, he didn't do any of those things. Never mind.

When most teams make a change they tend to swing the opposite direction of the previous guy. I'm just hoping it's not Williams.

Gracie for manager!
That's turning the asylum over to the inmate. Mark Grace has the mental capacity of a 12-year old. He is hardly the candidate to be in charge of 50-60 people.

Manager, the highest ranking guy on the field, is not a ceremonial position. It is a serious responsibility. I hope you were just kidding!

Probably won't make a whole lot of difference - but does this send a messsage to the clubhouse - "Hey, your boss is a lame duck!" or worse "Dead man walking!"?
