The Arizona Diamondbacks appear to have found their new first base coach.
Former major leaguer Eric Young is expected to be named first base coach this week, meaning Matt Williams will slide over to become the third base coach, a role for which he prepared during the final week of instructional league earlier this month.
Young, who retired after the 2006 season, spent 15 seasons in the major leagues, hitting .283 and stealing 465 bases. He spent this past season as a roving minor league outfield and baserunning instructor for the Houston Astros.
The Diamondbacks still are without a pitching coach, hitting coach and bench coach.

Good hire. I think it's important to place former, successful major league players like Young in coaching positions on this team to teach these guys what it takes to be professional ball players.

Good guy, got to party with his son a lot when he was playing college ball here in AZ. Every time we were at his dads house for anything he was always one of the nicest easiest guys to approach and made everyone feel comfortable. Glad to see the D-Backs hire him, maybe we try to make a trade for his son now and get some pure speed in the lineup.
