Goldberg spent the first month of his 2018 season with Double-A Birmingham, where he posted a 2.82 ERA over 22.1 innings of relief. The 28-year-old allowed 11 runs over 11 relief appearances for the White Sox last season. He'll function as bullpen depth for the Diamondbacks in the upper levels of the minors.
RHP Brad Goldberg, who was promoted to the Charlotte Knights from Double-A Birmingham on May 31st, was traded today to the Arizona Diamondbacks organization. This season, Goldberg, 28, appeared in 17 games with Double-A Birmingham and went 0-0 with a 2.82 ERA (34 SO/22.1 IP). He made 30 appearances with the Charlotte Knights last season and went 3-2 with five saves and a 3.35 ERA (47 SO/40.1 IP). Goldberg made his major league debut on June 3, 2017 with the White Sox and posted a 0-0 mark with an 8.25 ERA in 11 games with Chicago (12.0 IP). He represented the Knights at the 2016 Triple-A Baseball All-Star Game, which was held at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. The Cleveland, OH native was originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 10th round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft.
