I watch the press confernces and why does it seem like the media is afraid of Whiz. Will the Card FO deny them access if they ask tough questions. It's all softball stuff and beat around the bush kind of questions? You know that wouldn't be the case in places like NY or Philly. It's like they are not allowed to question Whiz's decisions. WAtch this latest presser when the reporter is obviously asking, in a roundabout way, if Whiz wishes he would have kept Leinart or had a better option than DA.
Btw, Whiz's answer to that question was complete bs. He said DA was the only QB available. At that particular point in time it may have been true but it was pretty well known that Bulger was going to be released and I think Anderson was signed after McNabb was made available. So there were other roads that could have been chosen.

You may be right, Cbus but do you see the irony of your comment?

For years & years, most Cardinal fans absolutely hated the negative spin given the team by local media.

So here we are today, with fans seeking chunks of red meat, frustrated because there's not enough blood on the floor.

That being the case, in hindsight the Cards were better off going with what they had.

In a perverse sort of way I'm glad Leinart is gone because the vitriol from the fans would have been much worse if the team played the same way with him under center. Of course, it hasnt been a picnic with DA there either.

To your point, tippy toe mush ball questions appear to be the norm, imo

I watched it and I think he was flat out wrong. He messed up with DA. I hope when he finally benches him, that he admits that he made a mistake with DA and should have kept Leinart and let one of the two rookies go. Worrying about another team grabbing the 53rd best player on your team is a bass ackwards way of thinking.

I was thinking the same thing. I wondered why the reporters were not riding him harder for answers. I don't know how Whiz let it get to this point with the QB's and now he is making jokes about it in interviews. As the head coach, he had to of had a better idea as to how good (or bad) his QB's were going to be. The only thing I can think of is that this was a front office thing and Whiz is just working with the crap they gave him?

Phoenix is a small media market. We have just one local newspaper here and a few sports talk shows. Beat writers like Kent Sommers are not going to rock the boat.
They also are giving Whiz some slack as he has proved himself with 3 successful seasons.

Very true.

We see that with the Austin paper and Mack Brown.

The Cards coverage in the Republic isn't even as good as the Cowboys coverage in the Austin paper 200 miles south of Dallas.

Its one of the reasons so many of us log on to ASFN all day because we can get better information here than we can from either the Republic or the Cards site.

Why is that? PHX is the 5th most populous city in the US, yet is in the teens for market size. Is it because there is not much of a poplulation outside of the valley?

Wtf are you talking about??????????????? It's a FOOTBALL press conference and that's what I said. You can still ask legit questions. This has to be one of th stranger reponses I have seen on here. Talk about taking things from one platform to another :doi:.

The worst was when Whis made his little joke about not starting a QB and going wildcat and the clown that asked the question starts fake laughing acting like it was the funniest thing he had ever heard. Even Whis had a look on his face like ok it wasnt that funny. A lot of local reporters seem more concerned with kissing Whis' ass than really trying to dig for for legit answers to their questions.

I think that's the same just about everywhere. Dan Patrick doesn't do it, I'm amazed at some of the things he asks his guests, but I know the local radio guys will be just raking Mack Brown over the coals and then when Brown calls in for his interview they'll start gushing over him like star struck teenagers.
