All of T. Boone's money still can't make turn the Cowboys into Sooners. I say this game is close in the 4th and Arizona has a chance at the end. If it comes down to Foles winning the game, my money's on Foles.

I don't see this one being close at all ... they don't need to be the sooners to take advantage of a depleted AZ defense

Playing in front of the home fans, with their own senior QB, I see this being a fairly high scoring affair - but I don't think AZ can go score for score with them and I don't think their defense will be effective at all.

I'd be surprised if this stayed within 2 TDs .... just seems like a really tough matchup

I've been wrong plenty before though.........

I'm guessing UA fans would like me to stop making UA football predictions right about now.

What is the over/under on when Stoops is just going to completely lose it on the sidelines?

Why was Foles still in the game during a blow out, again.

The backup is hurt and they don't want to waste Matt Scott's redshirt. As long as Foles can stand upright, he's taking ALL the snaps.

You mean over/under on how many times per game he loses it on the sidelines, right?

Why would anyone expect UA to stay in this game? Even discounting the fact that we have taken similar beatings in the past against comparable opponents in road games (LSU in 2007, Iowa in 2009) in the Stoops Era, go take a hard look at Arizona Football vs Oklahoma State Football as a whole. They have top-level everything. Facilities, fan support, coffers to pay assistants, fertile recruiting grounds, etc. We have none of the above, in fact we have Mountain West caliber of those areas. Whoever ends up in the division with the Big 12 castoffs should realignment go through will be cannon fodder for a loooong time. Those schools have every conceivable advantage over all of us except USC, Oregon, and maybe UCLA.

Regarding Stoops, have none of you fans seen a UA game before? This is just about par for the course. Nobody really expects much out of him anymore. The biggest goal for Arizona Football for the foreseeable future is building facilities and winning when they can. At that point they'll consider upgrading Stoops or see what he can do with some more perks. But at this point upgrading to a point where football is above WAC level structurally is what we'll have to settle for until the basketball team kicks ass every winter.

As far as the season goes, eh, well this is what we have seen before in past seasons. Stoops just doesn't win OOC road games. Foles looks fine, so do the receivers and the offensive line should only get better. The defense is undermanned though. Serious recruiting mistakes there but Hall and Fischer are supposed to be back in a few weeks so that will help there. Overall it looks like 6-6.

I know none of you want to hear this from an ASU fan, but if I were UA, I'd be stashing away new TV deal money until I had enough to buy out Stoops and throw something worthwhile at a good young assistant who has a bunch of young friends who like to recruit. I dunno. I would be really aggravated paying $1.2 million a year (or whatever it is) for this. I'd rather my football program take a big swing and miss.

But I sympathize with you. Know how it feels. Good luck heading into the Pac-12 and would be very grateful if you could knock of Stanford and/or Oregon.

Texas has all the advantages you guys talk about wanting and I don't know if we have an answer for Joseph Randle and Justin Blackmon.

Just amazing players.

I want to hear it. The Holiday Bowl was the high water mark for Stoops. We shouldn't be losing 6 straight games against 1A opponents.

Stoops has had six years. I've seen enough personally.

With what money or perks to offer this mythical new coach? Right now Brophy has better practice facilities than UofA Football. And the Pac-12 money hasn't kicked in yet so while we pay Sean Miller top 5 money we'll only have 1.2 million or so to pay a new guy which buys you nothing these days. We'll wait for the infrastructure to improve (should be done by 2013) and the Pac-12 TV money to kick in then get involved.

Until that happens going on a coaching search is nuts because we have nothing to offer. And no, having good looking girls on campus and nice weather do not affect anything in college football.

Which brings us back to the notion that UofA is a basketball school through and through. It's nice when we go to bowl games (and beat ASU ;) ), but it is not to be expected, especially this season.

Basketball will butter the bread for the athletic department for an indefinite period of time, especially when it will consistently have top recruiting classes; and potential multiple Final Four appearances moving forward.

Oklahoma State is a serious contender for the Big 12. They have the best receiver and their qb is very good and he is 28 years old. In my opinion that is a big advantage.

Another thing to remember is that Stoops has some friends in high places over at UA. Not necessarily Greg Byrne but some others who are more important than the athletic director so anyone expecting Stoops to get canned this year is going to be sorely disappointed. Hell he may even get beyond 2012 to see what he can do with better facilities although that would surprise me as I think next year's team completely bottoms out. I don't agree with that at all considering Byrne's only other football hire in his career is Dan Mullen who probably could pick his next job if he decides to leave Mississippi State. There have been some whispers since Byrne arrived that Bellotti could be an option with their relationship. If there is any truth to that then the move should've happened yesterday.

I haven't liked Stoops in a loooong time as the record of this board clearly states, even when we win games I feel we're doing less with more due to game management.

Didnt expect to win this game. Ill be harsher on Stoops after the next 3 games assuming they go the way everyone assumes they will.

With new facilities and a potential super conference, I am starting to think we should belive we can do much better then Stoops.

I know it doesn't help that much but always remember that at least you no longer have John Macovic as your Head Coach. We have a grotto near campus where we go before every UT game to give thanks to the football gods that John Makesusick is gone.

That's why Stoops has gotten the time he has even though the results have not been there. Arizona was probably the worst major conference football program in the country when he arrived. Offseason participation was under 20%, academics were a mess, overall culture was a completely disaster, and the talent and facilities were WAC level. All have improved since Stoops arrived and for that he is owed a debt of gratitude. However the results as I said are not there and he embarrasses the university every week with his sideline antics. Stoops is going to get fired at some point soon, likely after 2012, but if any program using Mackovic as a barometer is doomed to mediocrity.

Only on defense. In one season the Anti-Buddy Ryan took a program long known for its defense and winning or losing 17-14 to losing 43-31.

I always wanted to see what would happen if an NFL team hired Johnny Mac as OC and Buddy Ryan as DC. Of course they would need an immigration fence between the offense and defense but I'd bet the team would win every game 72-0.
