PHXSportsFan4
Time for baseball season.
Which has more fans in the PHX area, UA or ASU? I'm just curious, I would think it would probably be ASU since it's located just outside of PHX but then again UA seems to be more popular overall.
I see. I was just wondering in terms of sports fans. I figured ASU would probably be more popular since it's actually in PHX but I wondered if UA had a lot of fans in the PHX area since it has a solid basketball program.ASU gets most of the attention here. Lute has never bothered to cultivate exposure in Phoenix and UA football has been dismal for a long time. And ASU is a lot bigger in terms of enrollment, isn't it?
UA still controls the money flows since it is the older land grant university and has the medical school and a firm grip on the legislature.

I know... Tempe is a suburb of Phoenix so ASU is basically in Phoenix. I've been past the campus. If you are going to be a Phoenix sports fan you may want to know that ASU is in Tempe and not Phoenix.

It pretty much started in about April of 1998. My grandpa moved to Phoenix in 1997 and I had always been fascinated with the west to begin with so I was excited that someone in my family lived in Phoenix I guess you could say. We made plans to go out there and visit him. A couple of months before we went he sent me a D-Backs t-shirt and D-Backs souvineer(sp?) baseball and mini bat. He pretty much turned me into a D-Backs fan. Then in July of '98 we went out there for 2 weeks and it was still to this day one of the best times of my life so far. The D-Backs were only at home for one series the whole time we were there and played none other than the Reds (I'm from So. Indiana right next to Louisville, KY and Cincy is about a 2 hour drive from here so I see them all the time) but I didn't really care especially since I was going to get to see the D-Backs and brand new Bank One Ballpark. We only got to see one game but I had a blast and I'll never forget that first time I saw a D-Backs game. We haven't been back since and I hope we can get back out there soon. I'm 19 right now and I'm thinking about trying to swing transferring out there next fall and go to college somewhere in the PHX area. I'm not really sure if that's how I'll move there or if I'll end up waiting until after college here and try to get a job there or what. I will definitly move there eventually though.Just out of curiosity, how did you become a Phoenix sports fan/fan of Phoenix in general. Under your avatar it says you live in Indiana, but plan on moving here. I wonder if there is an interesting story behind it.
Thanks. I'd say the chances of me actually going to PHX for college are slim but I'm definitly going to look into it and see if I can swing it. I think it would be a lot easier to graduate from college there and already be there when I go to look for a job rather than graduate here and have to go through the process of trying to find a job there and then move and all of that good stuff. I'll figure something out lol.It was interesting to me! I hope you're able to make your way out here soon. Sadly, Phoenix doesn't have a lot of college options, its pretty much ASU, ASU West, ASU Polytechnic (which is on an old Air Force base in East Mesa and is extremely depressing) and ASU Downtown (which isn't much right now, but will be pretty awesome in a few years). Then there is the Thunderbird Business School, and Grand Canyon University, which is a small Christian school in a somewhat run down area.
Been around the state recently or checked growth projections?
Phoenix is LA. Tucson is the Inland Empire. They'll soon be connected and nobody outside of Arizona will know the difference or care.
lol ok. I mainly just liked them the entire time they had Leinart and Bush but I wasn't a die-hard or anything. I will dump the logo and start hating all of the L.A. teamsPHXSportsFan4, you've got to dump the USC Trojans logo. If you are going to be a Phoenician, you have to learn to hate L.A. almost as much as you hate Tucson.

They were exaggerating, I think. Phoenix is no doubt a rapidly growing metro area but let's be realistic... It is NOTHING compared to the LA metro area. What does soon mean? and what do I care about the thoughts of Az from people outside of Az?
Do growth projections say that Az is LA? Do you just make stuff up?
reasonable.Been around the state recently or checked growth projections?
