You either fire him, or give him an extension. There's nothing worse of a death sentence than a coach who's coaching in the final year of his contract.

My guess is Bobby looks at some of the other HC vacancies to see if he can get a long-term extension. Believe me, him being welcomed back to ASU is not an endorsement from the athletic department, it's an admission that there's not enough money to buy him out and hire someone else. If Bobby gets an offer elsewhere, I think your AD offers to help him pack.

If CBH is coaching in Tempe next year, I hope that Koa Peat is one of his players, along with Sanon and Quaintance. That's about the only thing that could make all this somewhat palatable.

Yeah, that makes zero sense. But ASU ...this is sane compared to keeping Edwards another year

The bigger problem is ASU needs a new basketball arena. That would do more to help the program.

They don't even have a baseball stadium on campus, not that I'm not a fan of Phoenix Muni.

I know this is a big thing with long time fans but I don’t think continuing to play in Packard changes things in the slightest

It's the idea of not having a home baseball field for games and practice.

Personally, I enjoyed watching big games at Phoenix Muni the most, but there is a time and place for everything. Mesa's Rendezvous Park also used to host big games before it was tore down.

Btw, I wonder if they changed the batter's eye in center field in Muni. IIRC, it used toread 425-430' at the base.

I once saw Ron Hassey of Arizona hit one over the top and still headed up like a rocket. It was amazing. Hardest I have ever seen a baseball hit.

The excitement of a new basketball arena would be tremendous. A new training facility gave the Suns a huge bump in recruiting free agents. That's not to say Bobby Hurley gets an excuse but money and facilities talk.
