You also fail to mention that AMC is the worst freaking television station in the world...

Man - I watched parts of this last night and I still just don't get what so many people see in this movie - IMO - it shouldn't even be considered as aprt of the Evil Dead series - it's got none of the freshness, ingenuity or absurdity that the first two did.

Heresy! Surely you didn't mean to say that about the station that, on Sunday night, had the honor of the broadcast premiere of Pinata: Survival Island (a movie so bad that the film's star Jaime Pressly refused to sign my friend's DVD of it)

:D

You're kidding right? AMC has the worst commercials, placed at the worst points in the movies, edit much more than any cable station should, and replays bad (not cheesy bad) movies over and over and over.

And the first two were basically the same movie...what's your point. It's Raimi, it's Ash, and it was better than anything else that was on at the time. :D

I don't tune into AMC much so I'll take your word for it. The fact that they have made one of the worst films in history (even if it is for Monstervision) an American Movie Classic tells me everything I need to know.

Actually, the AMC doesn't even stand for American Movie Classics anymore. It stands for American Movie Channel. At one point, they were going to start another station with old movies, but I guess that fell through.

Oh well, at least Turner Classic Movies is the best station on television!

I agree, though I still like it.

Evil Dead 2 was just soooo much better.

Yeah - without a doubt - for me Evil Dead 2 stands head and shoulders above both the other in the series. If only for the brilliance of the scene where Ash's hand flips himself off - absolutely genius.

I love the scene where all the inanimate objects in the room are laughing at him. The stuffed elk (?) head, the clock, the books, etc. :D

Yeah, Evil Dead 2 is easily the best of the bunch. Cutting up his fiance and constructing his chainsaw hand were terrifically filmed.

I picked up the DVD for "Army Of Darkness". I watched it with a friend of mine that had never seen any of the Evil Deads. I don't think he got it, not even the humor. This movie makes me bust out laughing everytime I watch it.

I didn't know that there was an alternate (actualy original) ending.

I was glad Raimi went with the ending that he did.

Recently watched it. Great stuff, this one was much funnier than the first two. I'm all set for the remake now, currently schedule for a 2009 release.

The movie actually has two different endings, both of which are available on the DVD. In the original ending Ash miscounts the drops of sleeping potion, and wakes up 100 years later than intended, in a world devastated by nuclear war. The more heroic S-Mart ending was filmed after the original ending was deemed too depressing.

I'm glad they went with this ending too.
