I knew the Beasley story it was pretty widely rumored K State got the mom a job but I didn't know about Bill Walker. And the Kansas stuff sort of explains why all the Memphis fans screamed foul play when the Morris twins de-committed to go to Kansas.

And since I seem to recall a story about one of the Morris twins firing an air rifle out his dorm window, is it really true the mom moved so her sons could live with her? She's clearly not living in their dorm and if they have a dorm they're not living with her? She may be a lot closer to them but this is why all the Memphis fans insisted 2 years ago that Kansas got the mom a job and that's why they switched to Kansas. True or not this stuff "looks" fishy and fans are always going to assume the worst when a kid verballed to their school changes.

Few years ago it was Luke Babbitt, a kid from Nevada who suddenly verballed to Ohio State. His grandparents lived in Ohio, then rumors swirled that a booster had arranged a job for his dad, and next thing you know Babbitt changed his mind, reneged on his verbal and wound up at... Nevada.

Interesting how the NCAA spokesperson says they don't monitor it, as long as the move is financed by the family not the school or boosters, they don't pay attention. I realize the Sidney situation is a lot more out there but given the resources and time they put to look into that one, why do they just assume all of these are above board too? I mean it does seem an inordinate number of these parents who move just happen to have kids who are highschool all americans?

Turns out with a little bit of looking there's a fascinating back story to the Morris twins at Kansas. Their mom works for First Management in Lawrence, Kansas owned by Doug Compton, a Kansas alum who is considered a Kansas booster by the NCAA.

The mom worked previously in Philly, according to internet stories she worked in a school cafeteria, she now works for a property management firm.

Back in 2009 Doug Compton's son, Doug Jr, enrolled at Kansas, he played hoops in HS and wanted to be part of the Kansas team. Because teh father is a well known booster it was a big enough story that Bill Self himself publicly commented saying Doug Jr would be part of the team in some capacity. He might walk on, he also has an interest in coaching, we're not sure yet. Well he wound up being the student video coordinator.

Again everything COULD be totally innocent but we have 2 highly regarded twins changing from Memphis to Kansas. Their mom then gets a job in Lawrence that appears to be a job well above what she did in Philadelphia. The owner is a Kansas booster, and the same year the Morris twins show up at Kansas, his son is given the student coordinator spot at Kansas. The NCAA says this stuff is hard to monitor but surely if I can google that story in a couple of minutes the NCAA can bother to look into if there is anything fishy about the mother's job in Kansas? I would assume lots of employers in Lawrence, are KU alums but I would also assume they don't actively recruit employees in Philadelphia so it would seem the NCAA ought to at least ask the questions?

Many, many incidents.

Carlos Boozer at Duke. Coach K got his unemployed pop a cushy job at GKC Pharmaceuticals.

Perry Clark was fired after he signed C J Giles and promised his pops a "coaching" gig at U M. C J then was decomitted and went on to Kansas where the Townsend?Self scandal led to him transferring to Oregon State.

Many, many more.

Bill Self. There's another Self I'm not related to, but I do not have any motivation to lie about that relationship.

I remember when he was a guard at Oklahoma State. He underwent hypnosis to improve his free throw shooting. I guess it worked, but it was one of the weirder stories I'd ever heard.
