The D-backs are still strapped for cash and the Red Sox still need a fourth outfielder, so don't be surprised if Eric Byrnes-to-Boston rumors revive. There was briefly talk of a Julio Lugo-for-Byrnes swap, but Arizona instead elected to acquire Felipe Lopez to play second base. But there's still some wiggle room for a bigger deal that could include catcher Miguel Montero.
Boston Globe

SI's rumor mill shows trade speculation from the Boston Globe about how BOS needs a 4th outfielder and may have a re-newed interest in Byrnes and that Montero could be included in a deal.

AZ Republic ran a story that JB stated that they have cooled on the Miggy trade talks, but is it possible that BOS tries to get us to take Lowell off their hands to make room for Tex.

I'd prefer to get one of there young SP's but they seem to be untouchable, other than that there really isn't anyone on their roster that would be of use to us, not anyone they are willing to give up that is.

Would it be unrealistic to hope that we could pull off a Byrnes, Montero and Petit for Lester and Lowell trade?

Completely unrealistic. Lester is going no where. The Diamondbacks are trying to get Michael Bowden but the Sox don't want to trade him, for obvious reasons. The Sox have been said to have offered Daniel Bard who is a reliever/closer prospect, not a starter.

I would do a Byrnes for Bard swap, just to get rid of the salary but I would not throw in Montero, he has more value than that.

I doubt Boston would want Byrnes now that they have signed Baldelli. Also, they have a stud outfielder in Lars Anderson who will be ready by the 2010 season.
