The Rangers moved Calhoun from second base to left field and brought him up in September. He showed enough to go to spring training as a candidate to be the opening-day left fielder. It did not happen, and Calhoun is having a difficult season with Triple-A Round Rock. He has had a big decline in power, going from 31 homers and a .527 slugging percentage last season to four homers and a .394 slugging percentage this season at the start of play Sunday. A scout with an American League club said Calhoun still has quick hands but is hurting himself by trying to pull everything.
