ASFN Mock Draft Game RD 1

I will be hosting a poll for each round in the draft. Starting with the first round, ASFN members are able to vote from a selection of players of who they would like to pick. Voting is based on who YOU want the Cardinals to pick, not who you think it would be. The winner/most popular prospect will be added to the mock draft, and we will continue to the next rounds.

VOTE NOW!

RD. 1 (07) – ???
RD. 2 (38) – ???
RD. 3 (69) – ???
RD. 4 (103) – ???
RD. 5 (140) – ???
RD. 6 (174) – ???
RD. 6 (176) – ???

I'm not sure of the rules. Are we guessing what the pick will actually be, or what we want the pick to be?

Choose what pick you want it to be. The most popular player will be put on the mock draft. When it's all said and done we will have a full mock draft voted entirely by members of ASFN.

I See a Potential Problem...

Since the mock doesn't factor-in guys that other teams might draft (& remove from our board round to round), the temptation for each of us would be to ignore players who'll probably be off the board when we pick in order to draft the guys we like.

At the ridiculous extreme, some ASFN'er might simply take the top 7 players on his round one board and then draft those guys round by round.

More likely, we might just find one guy drafting Tyler Wilson in round 4 (in the hope he'd fall that far).

So boys & girls, you're on your honor...

That's why I change the selection of players for each round based on where that player might rank. I'm basing the rankings off of this website:

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings

So obviously I'm not going to use Tyler Wilson as a 4th round selection, nor will I use top 7 players in later rounds.

So to get this right - our pick should be based on CBS.com's overall player rankings. That's cool (That's what I use for my own 7 round mocks).

One slightly OT aside - There really can be two Boards that teams and fans can use: (1) Player rankings based on how the team rates each player and (2) Player rankings based on when we think each player will come off the board. Similar but not identical (since some teams may draft for need and not BPA and certain players - like QB - tend to be drafted earlier than their ratings suggest).

Logically, Using the two boards in tandem should aid a team's overall draft strategy (especially when setting up trades).

Exactely, this poll won't be accurate.

It's a simple mock draft... unless we had an individual for each and every team to make picks for each and every round, it's never going to be accurate.

Why this poll open till 7th april? We have to make six picks more

I'll be starting the second round tomorrow. Making this poll 7 days long was my mistake. The remaining rounds will be 4 days each.
