In this week's Ashland Times-Gazette's baseball power rankings, the weather played a key factor in the postponement of a number of games for area teams. So, there wasn't much baseball action on the field for many teams, which will reflect in not that much movement in this week's power rankings.
(Results and rankings are through Tuesday.)

After a 15-3 road win at Western Reserve on Monday, Crestview didn't fare too well the rest of the week. The Cougars lost three straight, which involved a defeat to Western Reserve in the second game, a rough 12-0 home loss to Shelby on Saturday and went down 9-8 to South Central on Monday.
After losing a two-game set to Norwayne earlier in the week, Northwestern went to South Central and got a 2-0 win on Saturday. Corbin Chanay earned a shutout win by throwing all seven innings, allowing just five hits, two walks, and he struck out three on 79 total pitches.
After starting 1-3, last year's co-Firelands Conference winners gained back a little ground going 2-3 the past week. After a two-game split with Plymouth, South Central then lost a one-run game to Lucas and were shutout 2-0 by Northwestern but came back to win a wild 9-8 extra innings (8 innings) game against Crestview on Monday. In the Crestview game, Trojans first baseman Kaden Blair had three RBIs and Weston June not only got the win as the starting pitcher but also drove in two runs on four hits.
Hillsdale had the quietest week of any team in the top five. The Falcons played just two games, both against Chippewa. Hillsdale loss 19-13 at home on Monday to the Chipps, in a game Knox Lewis drove in a team-high three runs. On Wednesday, Hillsdale picked up a 3-1 extra innings road win (8 innings), as pitcher Aiden Hoffman earned the win with five strikeouts, two walks, allowed five hits, zero earned runs in seven innings pitched while facing 31 total batters on 100 pitches.
If the weather holds up, the Falcons will look to get busy, as they meet Smithville for a two-game set and go to Ontario.
For a second straight week, Ashland sits as the only Ashland-area team with a winning record. Ashland was only able to get on the field three times last week against some tough competition at that. The Arrows fell to always-strong Ohio Cardinal Conference contender Wooster 10-3 on Wednesday, then defeated last year's Division II district champions Clear Fork 12-2, and on Saturday were shutout 6-0 against Findlay, who now are 4-0 on the season. Ashland is scheduled to play four games throughout this week.
