http://www.azcentral.com/sports/art...ransfer-evan-gordon-signs-asu-basketball.html

So PG Chris Colvin of Palm Beach CC has decided to come to ASU. He originally went to Iowa State, then to a CC and now is ASU bound. I'm not sure what his story is, must've been a mess academically to bounce from ISU to a CC. But he was a Top 100 kid coming out of HS in 2009, so hopefully he can step right in for the now gone Brandon Dunson and do a good job backing up Jahii Carson at the PG slot.

PG/SG (but more PG) Evan Gordon (younger brother of Hoosier/Clipper Eric Gordon) has also decided to transfer to ASU from Liberty (where the Gordon's dad also went). He led Liberty in points per game but his shooting percentage from 3 was a bit lower than you'd like out of a guard. I haven't seen him play so perhaps opposing teams were really keying on him as Liberty's main scorer.

Interestingly Corey Hawkins was Gordon's host while visiting ASU. You'd think they'll likely be competing for a similar role and at first blush it would appear Sendek is indeed recruiting over Corey with Gordon a bit. But if Hawkins is hosting him that sort of seems to me like that would contradict that notion. Though I suppose Hawkins is going to be more developed more as a 2 and Gordon is specifically coming to ASU to play the PG slot.

All of this is a bit odd, I know Sendek is scrambling to fill classes and all but with Royce Woolridge now out there and specifically stating he wants to play closer to home I wish Sendek would've held out for him over a JC kid. Maybe trying to get Woolridge could still be in the cards, he's grown a bit since HS (he's like 6'3'' now) and most NCAA teams are vastly undersized anyhow. We know Herb loves having a bunch of guys standing around the perimeter who can shoot, so maybe my Woolridge dream isn't completely crushed.

Jonathan Gilling of Denmark has also officially sent in his LOI, he's a 6'8'' wing type forward. Who knows how much he'll play next year, I'd assume he's a 3 or 4 in Sendeks system and thusly will be behind King, Felix, Creekmur and Cain.

Another CC guard out of Kansas, Jeremy Jones, was scheduled to visit ASU this month but I imagine thats off now.

Hey Hoover any word on the Keala King to transfer rumors? They were out there much of the year just curious if his increased PT late in the year quelled that.

I think a big part of it is all the Mater Dei players that have transferred recently, when word hit Friday UCLA might sign SG Kevin Ware immediately people started wondering if Tyler Lamb would transfer out, if you play at MD in HS people assume you'll transfer if you don't start early on in college.

Everything I've read is that Keala's never really considered transferring. I think most of that talk was just ASU fans being paranoid and assuming he would because of all the recent transfers we've had.

Interesting, there was a bunch of rumor about it on BRO during the conference season and from some people that are usually pretty connected.

With all the MD transfers you just sort of assume there's something to it but that could just be speculation. He had a disappointing year but ASU's system is tough to learn, especiallty trying to learn multiple roles like he did. Look at the improvement year over year by Lockett.

Wake me up when we get a half decent big man. It seems we have a glut of guards at this point, but lack anything inside. Apparently the lure of instant playing time still isn't enough.

I'm not connected much at all, but that's just what I had read from people who generally are. Could very well be wrong.

I'm not sure what Herb is doing here. 2012 is supposedly the deepest high school recruiting class on the West Coast in several years and he puts ASU in a position where they only have one or two spots open so that he can land these mid-level prospects? With 20 of the Rivals 150 in 2012 coming out of California, Northwest, AZ, or Vegas one would think you'd want to focus there.

He's staying. I even read in a Haller interview I believe it was that he said about himself that he needs a major attitude adjustment. Thats pretty impressive for a young kid to admit he came in with a big head and has since been humbled.

Now if his Sophomore year is a big a mess as his freshman year, who knows what'll happen.

I think that giant 7 man class has made everything all wonky and screwed up. I'm sure Sendek expects more attrition through transfers and such though, so maybe more slots will open up.

My main hope for 2012 is ASU gets Demarquise Johnson from Westwind and a decent big man. If they only take a 2 man class that year, its probably OK.

.

glad to hear it all this transferring is getting nuts. When Carlino left UCLA midseason without ever playing a game I thought this is getting to be insane.
