Don't know if there will be enough interest for this. We usually do it on the Suns board though. Score is 22-20 (UA) at the moment. Im watching this now that the Suns game is over.

The UofA is playing a bunch of guys who have not played much but some, like Jordan Hill are making the most of it. Hill looks like he is making a statement to Lute tonight that he should get more playing time.

^I think Lute knows how terrible ASU is, and thus is giving unusual guys playing time. I wouldn't be surprised if Marcus' suspension was a ruse, just to give him some rest (though perhaps thats against the NCAA rules).

Lute is now 42-6 vs ASU and the Cats have won 23 of the last 24. That is pure domination.

Does this make Sendek 1-1 vs. Lute?

Sendek's Miami (OH) knocked the Cats out of the tourney one year...

Are these their only two matchups?

No, that's just against ASU. Don't know how many more wins Lute had when he was at Iowa.

Congrats UA, nice win. I think you guys will struggle in the tourney this year, but be very good next year.

I'll take the best basketball team from the Valley against the best basketball team from Tucson any day though :p

I think the Cats will get to at least the Sweet 16 this year. Next year will be a reloading year with Ivan, Staf and Marcus gone. It will definitely be Chase's team with Jawann, Bayless and Horne contributing a lot. Kirk Walters is the wildcard. If he can gain some weight and play defense, him and Hill will be shot-blocking monsters.

The schedule next year is probably the hardest Lute has ever had. At North Carolina, at Memphis, at Illinois, at UNLV, at Kansas and at Houston. Plus they get Texas A&M and Virginia at home. Then you have to play the Pac-10 teams.

If ASU had any sort of OFFENSIVE scoring this game or this season. This game would of have been close right down to the last shot.

ASU plays good defense already this year, just dont have no "O"ffense. But in 2 or 3 years ASU basketball will be a force to be recond with and it will be a breeze to go to Tuscum and beat the MildRats.

That's okay to them though - they're "a basketball school." :D

Without looking up the numbers I can safely say that ASU hasn't dominated the Cats in football in nearly the same way as the Cats have dominated ASU in hoops. So to compare the two when it comes to the rivalry is silly.

I work with an Arizona grad. He uses that phrase all the time.

The schedule next season for au basketball is great.

I can't wait till Herb brings on that kind of schedule in a couple of years at ASU.

Hey green, are we talking about the records since both became Universities, or do we go back to when 1 was a College and the other was a University?

Let's talk about ASU's "dominance" over UA in football, shall we?

* ASU has a slight lead in the last 10 games (6-4)

* Since 1980, UA leads the series 15-11-1

* UA leads the all-time series 44-34-1

If that's "dominance" then there really is no adjective to describe the UA-ASU basketball "rivalry" where the U of A has won 23 of the last 24 games.

BEAR DOWN!!! :cats:
