I was sitting a couple of rows behind the Dbacks dugout, and 1 thing I noticed was when the players would return to the dugout there was absolutly no emotion from any of the players, at least nothing positive, after Clayton got tagged out @third while trying to go home on the ground ball to third, he had a look like "how dare you call me out at third" and the play wasnt even close.
There seems to be a lot of negativity right now, and something needs to be done now.........

Okay. What do you suggest?

I'm at a loss because I agree with Dan Bickley's article this morning that this mess of a team is the front office's doing.

Fire Bob Melvin? Would that help now that the team is just going through the motions and has tanked the season?

I think it goes back to the old adage: "You can't fire the team so fire the manager instead." Yes, the FO definitely put us in this position, but maybe, just maybe canning BoMel would light the proverbial fire under the team's feet.

Actually, firing the team doesn't sound bad right about now! ;)

Melvin may not be the problem, but I don't think he is the solution either. I agree with many others that a disciplinarian/no nonsense type manager would be best. I love the Todd Stottlyemyre suggestion for pitching coach. The guy is nuts. Anyone remember when he tried to go after Manny Aybar when he was on the DL? Classic TS...

There is a ton of negativity in this team. I too was at the game last night.

I can't even cheer for them. With Conor Jackson and other young guys in the lineup we at least have an excuse to loose. Right now we're loosing with high paid veterans who can get the job done.

The teams attitude as whole stinks. Clayton threw his batting helmet towards the dugout when he was out at third. Terrero didn't move from his spot at the end of the dugout at all. This isn't a team. This is a bunch of guys who collect their checks and play baseball.

I don't know if these are stupid questions, but, regarding contracts, is it possible for Ortiz to be designated to Tucson? If he decides not to report, is his contract voided? Is it written into contracts that veteran players cannot be optioned unless they are on a rehabilitation assignment?

Ortiz has been awful all season and there's been no reports of the D-Backs DFA. He should report and try and work out his stuff but that requires him going to Tucson and slumming it with minor leaguers in mediocre hotels. All's well though, we're starting Russ on Monday in the series opener against the team we're supposedly chasing in San Diego. I believe they're running Jake Peavy to the mound. Who wants to guess how that game will turn out?

Firing Melvin certainly would'nt hurt...could they play any worse, prehaps a coaching change might give them a needed kick....they are only 6.5 games out with a month to play, that is very do able... I lived in Seattle when Melvin was there and it looks like the same thing is happenning this year, that happened last year with the Mariners...I think its Melvin
