ATI X1950 256mb vs ATI X1950 512mb

I'm planning on getting an X1950 graphic card to crank up the speed of my AMD X2 5600+ system. Is the difference between the 256MB and 512MB really worth the price difference? 256MB=$250, 512MB=$499

There must be more difference between the card. Video RAM is a misleading selling point, it doesn't give you as great a jump in performance as other things do such as Pixel pipelines or core and memory speeds

I have the 256mb card. It runs WOW at full settings on my 3200+ without a hitch.

generally, more than 256MB of RAM usually adds nothing more than fluff to a card.....and comes nowhere near close enough to justify the price.

if you're willing to spend $500 on a card, i'd look into the 8800GTS isntead.

Anyone know how the GeForce 8600 GTS OC stacks up agaist the ATI boards? I can't find too much online about this model

The X1950 out performs this card, the only thing the 8600 has going for it is it's one of the lowest cost Direct x10 supported cards out there. X1950 doesn't support DX10

Also, don't get the OC version of this, get GTS version from XFX, it's actually faster. I always buy XFX

It really sucks, I need a decent card but it has to be purchased through Bestbuy. A friend of mine owed me money and I accepted his payment as BB giftcards. So I have $300 in giftcards and BB only has a few decent cards and a ton of $99 peices of crap!

Go down to the store, don't look online

I have that exact same card. Allow me to run games with all the eye candy turned on (although not maxed) with good FPS. It rocks!
