Their tanking is so blatant, just disgusting.

Halftime against Detroit

Atlanta 38 Detroit 66

I agree. They should be getting fined for the teams they are putting out on the floor every night.

The only players that aren't perimeter players and played for Atlanta are the awesome

Chris Crawford
Joel Przybilla
Mammadou N'Diaye

A total career average of 12ppg and 7.5rpg.

Yeah, forfeiting their pick would make them a lot more fun to watch.

Don't knock the Przy - he actually played a good game: 2 of 4 shooting and 10 rebounds. Crawford was 5 of 11 with 5 rebounds. Detroit only out rebounded Atlanta by one rebound.

But their outside guys...

Terry 3 of 13
Jackson 5 of 18
Sura 6 of 15
Vaughn 3 of 10

But get this, the Hawks hit 40% of their 3 pointers but only 32% INSIDE the arc.

Every year we see at least one team playing more for their lottery selection than the playoffs.

San Antonio did it and drafted Duncan.
None more obvious than last years Cavs.

I agree that a team should be punished for this act, but how do you prove it?

That San Antonio team was built around Sean Elliott and David Robinson. David Robinson was injured for much of the season, and I don't remember what happened to Elliott. Last year, Cleveland had a much of the same team they do today.

No, this year's Atlanta Hawks' team is different. No one in there right mind could expect that team to even compete on a nightly basis. That roster should be blown out of every game. I think the team has an obligation to at least try to field a team that has a chance to win a few games. There's no chance for Atlanta.

I agree for the most part, but what about the Clippers?

As far as I'm concerned the Clippers catch a bad rap for not re-sign their free agents. What they should be criticized for is poor drafting and failing to sign free agents from other teams. Take a look at the free agents they have let walk away over the years. Almost all of them have been lousy or average players that were signed for big money elsewhere.

I hate to quote Bill Walton, but he said the other day on a broadcast that the Clippers should not be criticized for not re-signing bad players. I agree.

What the Atlanta Hawks have done is so obvious and I think they should be punished. I will hate to see them rewarded with a high draft pick for it. IMO, Justice would be served if teams like Phoenix or even the Orlando that competes every night gets those top draft picks.

Atlanta is up by 5 on the Lakers minus Kobe with 7 minutes left!

Shaq can't even beat a team that has Cris Crawford and Joel Przybilla starting? Backed up by Mammadou N'Diaye?

Person blocks George jumpshot with 34sec left. Terry makes 1 of 2 freethrows.

Hawks up by 1 with 11 secs to go and Lakers ball.

The Hawks are headed for the finals bay-bee!

The Vanilla Gorilla matches Shaq with 14 boards and 2 blocks as the Hawks out-rebound the Lakers and beat them at the free throw line...you just can't make this stuff up...

And you know that Hawks fans right now are saying, "See? This shows how close we are to being contenders. If our guys could just play with a little more consistency, we'd be able to challenge the top teams every night."

That's a great victory for a completely undermanned Atlanta Hawks team. However I don't doubt for a second at the Phoenix Suns would have smoked the Lakers the last time they played if they had been without Kobe Bryant.
