LAFAYETTE - Clinton Prairie junior Nick Curtin, Attica wrestler Aubrey Bartkowiak, McCutcheon track hurdler Kamarion Ayres and Clinton Prairie pole vaulter Taylor Hornbeck have been named male and female Journal & Courier Athletes of the Week.
Hornbeck and Ayres were top female and male vote getters while Bartkowiak and Curtin each got the nod based on merit.
Here's what these four athletes accomplished to receive the weekly honor.

Bartkowiak won a USA Folkstyle Wrestling national championship on March 17 in West Des Moines, Iowa. Bartkowiak took the 235-pound title with four wins — all by pin fall.

Curtin saved his best for when Clinton Prairie most needed it. The junior forward 28 points in a 58-55 overtime victory over Central Catholic for Clinton Prairie's first IHSAA class A regional title on March 15.
Ayres took first place in the 55-meter hurdles at the Mavericks Hoosier Qualifier Saturday and Hoosier State Relay Trials Thursday at Purdue. Ayres won the March 13 meet in 7.69 seconds and was clocked at 7.81 seconds on March 15.
Hornbeck won the 2024 the sectional pole vault title and started this season with a victory at the Hoosier State Relay Trails on March 13 with a level of 10 feet.
