Just something I saw.. If Beal is high on him and he is willing to take a paycut to be on the bench, I would think the Suns would look at him.

John Wall was inactive the last 15 games of last season for the Clippers. As I understand it, the Suns would have to at least pay him the veteran minimum salary which would be approximately $3 million. I'd prefer other options without knowing more.

Dude who has been unplayable for years and coming off a 40 million dollar a year deal offers to take a salary cut… big of him.

We don’t need unplayable players.

I'm not sure we'll ever know, it's not like it's a shining moment for the organization. My guess, it was a group decision but neither Ryan nor Robert were strongly in Luka's camp. I figure if Sarver really wanted him, we'd have drafted him no matter if there was opposition in the organization especially when you consider what a cash cow Luka was expected to be. And if Ryan really wanted Luka, he'd be crowing about it, in no uncertain terms, into every mic he faced.
The only thing we know for sure is that it wasn't then head coach Kokoskov despite what he might have said at the time when asked.

A lot of guys on talk radio had him above Nurkic on the trade on who they liked in our trade. Not that he's necessarily better than Nurkic, but they like his hustle. Kind of replaces the tough guy element we are missing.

And desperately gives us a spot up 3 point shooter

He was. Danny played Ryan for a fool, not the other way around IMO.
I really don't think so. I think Ainge would have taken Jackson had he shown up. Ryan was a fool of his own making. Ainge just lucked out.

Interesting how fast Suns fans have warmed up to the idea of having Grayson Allen once this trade was finalized. I am not sure ANYONE wanted him a month ago. Not criticizing really. It is just interesting.

Because on another team he’s a thug regardless of his stats.

That's not what I read at the time on Boston boards. I know Ainge was pissed about them cancelling the workout in Sacramento but it was because they were already in the air when they were notified. But he later said that they'd followed him for a few years and that the workout wasn't really needed. He said they still liked Josh and if he'd been their top choice they still would have taken him. There was some concern about drafting someone that didn't want to play for the Celtics but Tatum won Ainge over when he worked out for them.

Most of the acceptance you've read here is coming from posters that haven't weighed in on Allen previously. I'm still going to have a problem cheering for Grayson after what he did in college but I cheer for the team more than any player so I'll hope for the best.

I try and cheer for the guys in the Suns uniform regardless of who is wearing them. If I can root for Chris Paul then I can root for Grayson Allen. Whether I wish him well when he goes elsewhere is another story entirely.

Is it also because all most people knew about Grayson was the dirty play? When you look at his game, he has some real merit as far as defensive tenacity and shooting.

Maybe but those of us that followed college basketball knew a lot about him as a player too. His dirty play detracted from his performances but he was a Mcdonald's all American and highly recruited by Duke where he played 4 seasons.

From what I could research, Allen has been suspended only once in his NBA career and that was for a Flagrant-2 he made on Alex Caruso that resulted in Caruso breaking his wrist. And that was only one game and he did show remorse after the play.

I guess we need to pay more attention -- but there is a difference between dirty and aggressive. PatBev was dirty, but we've seen him play the Suns more than Allen. And PatBev had some sort of beef with both CP3 and Book...

All I'm saying is the rough stuff aside, he could be a very good player for us off the bench.

Just make peace that he’s dirty and get good with it because he is. He’s not as outright stupid as Pat Bev is, but he’s dirty.

Found this blurb interesting in the trade grade article about the Celtics/Blazers deal as it pertains to Ayton. I think this helps illustrate one of the main reasons why the Suns didn't receive a huge haul for Ayton as it clearly paints a picture of Ayton potentially being valued less than Robert Williams. What's done is done though and I'm happy the Suns have moved forward and DA is no longer our problem.

Wojnarowski reported Portland intends to keep Williams, who turns 26 later this month, meaning the center position has gone from a major weakness for the Blazers to a surprising strength. In Williams and Deandre Ayton, Portland now has two starting-caliber centers in their athletic prime. The challenge for coach Chauncey Billups may be finding enough minutes to keep both happy, and it will be intriguing to see whether the Blazers try playing both together at times.

The hot take here is that Williams, who has never averaged more than 10 points per game in a season and spent most of the 2023 playoffs coming off the bench, might be the better of Portland's two centers. Although Williams isn't nearly as skilled offensively as Ayton, he does a better job of playing to his strengths as a career 73% shooter who is one of the league's best defenders when healthy.

Williams also brings a favorable contract paying him less than the non-taxpayer midlevel exception over the next three years. So long as he can stay healthy, Williams is a great pickup for the Blazers.

idk man - when it comes to Allen - CP3 may be just as dirty

Not even close.

And when CP3 does something dirty and gets called for it he stands up for himself. Allen literally starts crying like a child.

Paul also does stuff to aggravate, annoy, get under people's skin, he isn't out there breaking a dudes arm or trying to concuss them.

He's one of the most gutless players in the league.

He's worse than Pat Bev. Bev is a revolting player who shouldn't be in the league. He takes cheap shots and tries to injure people... but at least he is calculated in his filth AND he doesn't back down from the aftermath after causing a mess on the court.

Allen goes after guys because he can't control his emotions, he throws tantrums and then melts down when he gets in trouble.

Idk what this means as CP3 cries incessantly. He’s been doing it since his Clipper days. He’s not as dirty as Allen but he’s just smarter about it.

Fine with it.
