TRANSITION PLAYER: None.

UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS

--LB Monty Beisel has yet to show that he belongs and has played very little.

-- S Jack Brewer is worth having for depth but not likely to push for a starting job.

--DE Chris Cooper had moments when others fell to injuries but doesn't appear to be more than a mid-level backup.

--LB James Darling is a versatile veteran who has started inside and outside and is worth considering at journeyman pay despite his advancing years.

--LT Leonard Davis has been a career underachiever and the team probably was correct not to tag him and instead let him become unrestricted. He is big but has not lived up to big expectations.

--FS Robert Griffith nearly retired a year ago and now very likely will after a fine career. He has just run out of gas.

--WLB Orlando Huff has been the starter, but a disappointing performer who likely will be replaced.

--OL Chris Liwienski found a starting spot when the line came together late in the year and at the very least is a competent, versatile backup worth keeping.

--CB David Macklin may be toast after being in and out of the lineup twice for inconsistent play. He brings a nasty demeanor but he is small.

--S Hanik Milligan has a track record as one of the league's better special teams players -- he led the Cardinals in special-teams tackles -- and is worth retaining.

--RB Marcel Shipp, the team rushing leader three of the past five years primarily as a backup, is a serviceable banger but lacks breakaway speed. The team will look at re-signing him. He will have a job somewhere.

--CB Robert Tate has started in spots but always by default -- injuries or poor play by players ahead of him.

--OL Fred Wakefield can add value to a roster as a versatile backup inside or outside after making a successful transition from DE three years ago. He isn't, however, starter quality.

--PR/WR Troy Walters is worth keeping as an effective punt returner and fourth receiver who has more experience than the young speedsters who annually try to dislodge him.

RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS

--C Nick Leckey was the starter at the end of the year when the unit finally played efficiently and should get a high tender.

--QB John Navarre was held in high esteem by the previous staff and is good enough to warrant at least a middle tender offer to continue to develop.

--C Alex Stepanovich started every game as a rookie and has since dropped off the charts to the extent that he'll probably be no more than a low tender candidate as a backup.

EXCLUSIVE RIGHTS FREE AGENTS

--TE Adam Bergen has been a part-time starter and has a future in the league.

--OL Rolando Cantu was the first Mexican national in the league but has developed slowly, to the extent that his future is questionable.

--DT Jonathan Lewis was drafted a year ago but signed for one year. He needs to gain some strength and keep working.

--RB Roger Robinson set NFL Europe rushing records but will need more time to develop before he's ready to challenge for playing time in the NFL.

I dont know where that site is getting their info but Lewis did not only sign a 1 year deal as a rookie. It was and still is 3 years.

Obviously didn't see that *cough* shoulder to helmet hit called helmet to helmet. That at least show me there was some combustion in that engine still. I think if he is on the team even as the last safety, then we will have significantly upgraded our safeties, and that's the depth we want.

I don't agree with the assessment of Beisel. In limited playing time he had a couple of interceptions and was definitely one of the Cards best LB's in pass coverage. I would argue that he even showed a little more fire and passion than Hayes before his injury.

Geez, what a terrible write up...Fox Sports actually pays people to write that stuff?

Beisel showed as much if not more than Brewer.

Liwienski didn't find a starting spot, he was a back-up.

Wakefield played TE last year.

Cantu's future isn't questionable, he has no future. Bad football player.

As Joe said, Lewis didn't sign a 1 year deal.

Beisel and Cooper did a great job as back-ups. If we can keep them for cheap, I'm all for it.

Brewer and Milligan aren't all that, IMO.

I am all for Monty Beisel to return in a cardinal uniform. When he was given a chance to play, he to every advantage of his time on the field. He played better than hayes imo
